Trying to defend a 1 nil lead for 40 mins. Irish posters on here will remember Brian Kerr, those were his tactics when in charge of Ireland.

In fairness to Tuchel, his accent is nowhere near as annoying as Brian Kerr's.

We were somewhat stuck when Anderson got his yellow and then retired into his shell for the second half. Ideally he should have been subbed. I feared the worst when Gordon went off for Konsa

Anderson I thought was doing fine, even after his yellow he put in some good tackles.

The problem was that when we needed changes because the likes of Rice were running out of steam, he did a reverse Lambert and chucked on pretty much every defender in the squad. We were under pressure, true, but all it needed was a tweak. Instead he panicked and resorted to what he did against Mexico. Letting the crosses come in and defending the six yard box.

But that was never going to work against Argentina with the quality of their delivery and no pressure at all on their midfielders.

And if you're going to insist on playing that way, at least replace Kane with someone vaguely mobile like Rashford or Ollie, who can give you an out ball.

Tuchel fucked it completely.

Kane and Bellingham being on the pitch after 70 mins showed the plan was to hope one of them does something.

Tuchel = Bruce-ball.

edit : Exeter 77 beat me to it !

Horrible way to lose, commiserations guys

Yeah, that's going to sting for a long time, especially when it was largely self-inflicted.

I've plenty of friends who are England fans. I'll leave them be after that one.

We were fucking shite, you should be having a field day you bloody wet lettuces.

Sometimes, you just have to be the better person.

I think we lost this with the squad selection tbh, particularly if Tuchel was more aware that the rest of us about how fit Saka and Rice were. He clearly didn't fancy Mainoo so had no fresh legs in central midfield which I think cost us today.

TBF it was mainly for the 30 when the last hydration break happened that it became a dedicated tactic. Before then there was the occaisional England attack and chances. But the Argies were getting the upperhand and Tuchel handed it to them on a plate, before tying a servitte, got a knife and fork and chopped it into little pieces to spoon feed them when he made his second two changes.

No offence to big Emi but I hope he fucking doesn't.

As with anything, I'm supporting the team with the Villa players in it.

I can't bring myself to support this Argie team. Anyway, I fancy a cheeky Yamal bid to fix our winger issue.

It doesnt sting so much because we deserved nothing ,  but another frustrating 'what if we hadnt set up like that after the goal'

The whole Tuchel thing is funny in reflection, the two managers of the two best teams in the world have pretty much zero club management experience.
But no we spend a fortune to bring in a German, just when they've gone out of fashion like flares (don't alarm your Wulvz supporting friends)

When Tuchel replaced Gordon with Konsa, a few pundits thought that England would go to a back 3 allowing the fullbacks to become wing backs.

News mentioned the Argies held up Falklands stuff on the pitch after winning. Starmer needs to be directly on the phone to Infantino to demand politics is kept out of the World Cup and they should now be kicked out and we take their place.

 ;)
