How could anyone be sure he got a touch on that? They just guessed didn’t they? Still, pleased for McPhee but feel sad for the blond Croatian potty mouthed lady.

No, they went by the chip in the ball. They showed snicko on the screen.

A chip is not a sensor.

So I used the wrong word, still doesn't change there is tech in the ball that is being used.

Too much technology in the game. Go back to proper chalk lines, Thunderer whistles, square section goalposts and proper lace-up footballs and boots.

And I have just googled, it's called a 'sensor-chip', so there is.

So if the chip said there was a touch on the ball, why did they need to get the ref to look at a screen?

I assume for him to decide on the defender's touch.

I assume for him to decide on the defender's touch.
But if they have already decided because of the “sensor” that he is offside, what happens after (ie a touch by a defender) is irrelevant.
I think VAR panicked.

If it is a deliberate touch by the defender then it isn't offside.

I was about to say the same. I like him. Young, raw but a lot of potential.

Poor defending at the very start of the 2nd half and it’s 2-0 to Switzerland

See Ronaldo had a face on him when he got subbed. Then his replacement immediately got the winner.

If the Portuguese manager had some balls, they could win this tournament.

If you want to score goals you have to have balls.

Talking sense as usual. Plus you're supported by all of Portugal.  Rumour doing the rounds is Martinez has a big lucrative contract lined up in Saudi and he wants to keep his new paymasters happy.

It didn't take Ramos long to demonstrate what's been missing in the side.

Why didn't the chip pick up the clear touch of the defender?
