Residents in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter have described short-notice parking restrictions ahead of Aston Villa's victory parade as "a slap in the face".

Thursday's parade took place less than 24 hours after the team won the Europa League with a 3-0 thrashing of German side Freiberg.

However, with several roads closed along the Villa parade route, some residents said they woke up on Thursday to find Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) on their cars, or in some cases their vehicles towed.

Great scenes yesterday - I started in the JQ, made the poor decision to wear a jacket and had the sun burning a hole in me whilst waiting about 45 minutes for them to turn up.

Then followed them down Sandpits, before nipping down the canal to get to Broad Street.  Unfortunately, couldn't get to Centenary Square as it was packed, but could hear Unai and SJM's speeches.

Not sure what the Official Figures were, but if there were 20k in Centenary Square, there must have been a similar amount again lining the streets along the route.  That's incredible given the short notice, it being on a work day and loads of fans still in Istanbul or travelling.

Good to see lots of kids too, it's days like this that cements the loyalty that will keep them with the club for the next 70-80 years.

Having it in the immediate aftermath of the win worked out well. I don't think our parade would have got as much coverage if it were on Monday or next weekend.

Man City and Arsenal were both in the Champions League so their players wouldn't have booked holidays until after the final, unlike Villa.
