So when is the civic reception?
Just saw it’s tomorrow afternoon.
That is shite.
Most of the guys in Istanbul won’t be back
And like me who would love to come back up to Brum have no notice to get time off work.

By all accounts it was this or nothing, due to other events, so I can understand the decision - all the folks out in Istanbul don’t have too much to complain about today 😆

What a night.
Every player did us proud.
Emery is a different level, this is the start, we are back.

A perfect all round team performance, capped by three outstanding goals. It really couldn't have gone any better tonight

I was saying before that it would be lovely to have the same sort of match as 30 years ago against Leeds, where we were dominant pretty much throughout.

And total, utter respect to the Freiburg supporters for their behaviour during and after the match.

From the club announcement:

> After returning from Istanbul tomorrow, the squad is due to undertake a full training session on Friday, before travelling to Manchester on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s final Premier League fixture of the season against Manchester City.

Birmingham Pride also takes place in the city centre on Monday, May 25, and many players are due to report to their international squads ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

Together, these factors made Thursday, May 21 the only viable option.

It actually is kinda fitting that the ones left behind get to celebrate with the team.

Nice to hear.

I spent a week in Freiburg over New Year 2013/14 and loved the place. They became my German team after that.*

*In the sense that I know absolutely nothing about them and don't follow their results whatsoever, but if I happen to see they've won, I let out a little "whey".

Feeling especially pleased for McGinn - what a journey with the club

100% this, I felt I wanted this trophy for McGinn just as much as I wanted it for Villa.

John McGinn you joined us when we were on our arse, you stayed loyal to us when others took the easy option. All the pictures of McGinn lifting the Europa League is the legacy he deserves.
