Summer 26 Transfer Window - hopes, speculation, rumours etc.

My concern is that we are selling proven premier league players like Ollie and talk about Jackson coming in who has tried and failed in the premiership. It is really depressing to see the stranglehold the top four or five have in the amount of money they can offer players.

Did he fail?

Jackson has looked like a very dangerous player every time I've seen him.

Given how 'up against it' we always are I am just worried that too much change at once might see us drop off like Newcastle have and once that happens it becomes even more difficult as they found this summer.

I think Newcastle struggled last season not because they had a lot of change but because they resisted change, personified by the Isak transfer. If they had cut that deal with the same swiftness we did Rogers, things may have worked out differently with a revitalised squad and a CL campaign to look forward to.

As for Villa, it seems we're having two windows in one, with a catch up effect from last summer, which was unsuccessful from a trading perspective (even if the outcomes of "one last push with this lot" were ultimately positive).

There's clearly risk in the level of player turnover we might eventually be facing, and as yet, it's hard to get a clear view of what we'll be looking like as a team. But football is a game of structure as much as it is about individuals, and as long as the manager remains the constant, I'll be backing us to be just as good as our most recent vintage with - crucially - the potential to go up another level.

Thats a fair point, as a minimum they’d have Ekitike and money left over for further reinforcement.  The fact they had - like we do - Champions League football meant they could have attracted the very best youngsters too. 

I never wanted this much change, but now we’re here, I’m content we are cashing our chips and rebuilding.  Konsa can go for the right money too.  I’d keep SJM and Martinez as I dont think the cash would replace their influence in the dressing room.

I realise PL football is no longer about 11 players but I would back that team against anyone in the Premier League

He’s taken this squad to it’s pinnacle, and the Rogers sale will be the thing that gives us the £39m/season for the next 3 years to take this squad from one that’s Top 10 in Europe to one that’s able to have players as good as those PSG ones looked a couple of seasons back. Give Emery players of that standard, but ones he’s fully chosen, and I think we can do something *really* special.

The first 11 looks tasty but there is a also risk that Manzambi and Garnacho take time to settle in and  this side was10th at Xmas

Yep. They’re the risk players. They could be useless but the potential ceiling is also massive.

The one in the Europa was a great tackle in fairness.

I hope we get another central midfielder in at some point this week. Being strong in that area is a key theme for Emery, we need to make sure we have enough. If they are seeing Hemmings as a 10, and Madjo wins the appeal, forward areas can wait until departures.

Interesting if any centre half links start appearing too.

Hemmings is perfect as a left 10 - hopefully keep him around at least until January and give him some minutes. Has bags of talent

Previously he was talked about as a DCM. What’s changed or was this never the case? It’s doesn’t seem a natural transition, even at that age.

I am afraid in the next 3 years we will be obliterated by our neighbours, they are on a phenomenal rise curve and no player would want to touch us once they have a choice to move to the sports quarter  sorry village.

We don't need to maintain an upward trajectory.  If we're starting our squad overhaul this summer (and it's clear that we are), then I think a trophy and a top four would be perfectly acceptable this coming season. 

There is no need to improve on last season if Emery is building a new side.  I'll be perfectly happy with the same again.  Then next summer we go big in the transfer market, and challenge for the title in 27/28.

As our former CEO explained we can not buy from Chelsea in this window. If we do go for Jackson, initially, it will have to be a deal similar to AG's.
