Seeing a load of Jackson links again today, about how we are preparing to break our transfer record to get him... despite the fact that that would screw up our Rogers profit for UEFA.

It would be a Thriller to get Jackson.

Selling off our crown jewels this year may help our SCR this year, but it leaves us unable to do anything next year as it's recalculated per year, so I believe. So all the profit we make this year counts for nought next year.

Transfer income is spread over three years (I think) so should help in future years too.

Weirdly I can see Konsa at Liverpool and Watkins ending up at Arsenal.

Our interest in Jackson is driven from somewhere - most likely a decent knowledge that we need to replace Ollie soon. His chapter at Villa has reached a beautiful conclusion, I can 100% understand him wanting to go.

I think 1 of the 3 will leave come deadline day. I would most like to keep Ollie, I think in the dressing room he sets a tone with professionalism etc, and you don’t want to lose that. Konsa is replaceable and we can get someone more comfortable and progressive in their passing at the back with the right scouting.

Emi - unless it’s £20 plus million, what is the point! Find a better keeper under £30 million plus. Yes he is knocking on, but surely has a couple of seasons easily in him.
Theres virtually nothing of any substance anywhere saying Watkins wants to go.

Two very creative clubs involved.

The Jackson stuff is easy media stuff because of Unai's links and past experience. But I am sure UEFA is looking closely at this as a way both sides circumvent SCR. Might be difficult to get this done without drawing unwanted attention.

Jackson in, Watkins out, I reckon. I'm not sure it would be a good idea but who knows. We would be reducing the age of our squad, at least.

I don't know how you can do it if it isn't a loan.

I find it hard to believe that after winning a trophy and qualifying for the CL, six key players would want to piss off. This would never happen at any other club so why ours?

Always a possibility when the club let it be known that every player has a price earlier this year - same as they did last season.

This was pre CL qualification and Europa League win. And after securing both the club prob felt the need to move that volume of players on isn't as great. But once that seed is planted and agents are contacted with a view to looking at other options, it's harder to get some of our lot to focus long term again.

Plus, if you're Emi, Watkins and Konsa and you see the likes of Tielemans, Digne and Rogers getting their moves you might think the time is right to move on anyway. With one of those infamous seasons of transition at VP on the cards.
