The rules are clearly restrictive for what we are trying to achieve, but by golly we have spaffed a fair bit of cash over the last few seasons.

we have and we absolutely need to get better which is what Olabe and Emery will be charged to do. But out outlays on the players that haven't worked out for us are small change relative to what other clubs have spent and wasted. The thing for us is that given what we can spend we need to be almost perfect which is practically impossible.

It is depressing. But it depends how likely it is we fulfil the requirement that will take off our restriction for next season. Remember, we aren't just fighting the SCR rules, it's also the deal we signed with UEFA.

The reality is that only 6 clubs in the country can outspend us, with Newcastle being hit and miss, and only 15 or so in Europe. Once we get out of the shackles of the 3 year plan, and with additional revenues of the Neu North and better sponsorship deals hopefully signed this summer, we should have more of a fighting chance.

Can see an English club (prob not us) turning down European qualification in the next few years with this level of interference.

My guess would be Chelsea - partic if it's for the Conference League.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is up for sale at WHU. Cash plus Tyrone if everyone can agree?...

We’d still need RB & LCH cover if we got rid of those two.

Blimey, I assumed Martyn meant money + Tyrone.

Don't see why (a) Cash would want to move to the Championship and (b) why we would replace him with somebody worse.

Yeah, I think he did. I was being facetious.

Whilst it is true, most of those revenues will be dependant upon what is happening on the pitch, and much of that will be a result of someone continuing to work miracles or some very clever spending.

I can't see it being done as I suspect if you qualify, you attend unless specifically blocked by UEFA and if a club can't fulfil the fixture from their end, further bans etc take place.

We’re good at this though:

Academy sales 2020-2025:

1. Chelsea £365m
2. Aston Villa £246m

I expect there would also be pretty significant pressure from the Premier League that nobody risks derailing the gravy train.

And anyway, Chelsea will just play the kids like they did last time and canter again.
