The thing with players like Malen and Diaby is they put big amortisation costs on the books, and big numbers on wages. If they don’t hit the ground running and we get offered our money back or a small profit they’re the ones who’s sales will really help us with SCR. This might explain what seems like a willingness to let Emi go for not much of a fee (or at least that’s what Juventus seem to think).
As I pointed out a while ago (a year or two?), JJ wasn’t a problem with SCR (no amortisation, not huge wages), but was a great PSR sale (pure profit). Also, for SCR auditing the transfer fee received is spread over three years, whereas under PSR it goes into the accounts straight away.
The two conflicting sets of rules are a pain in the arse.
For these reasons (and the UEFA settlement) don’t rule out the possibility that we low-key want to sell Rogers. Offers for Maatsen and Onana would be tempting too.
