What does the midfield even look like now? Bogarde, Onana and Emi B?

Hopefully my next week Barkley and Doug to add something to that. Add in Hemmings and one or two other kids who may need to step in. Maybe Pau into a CM role with Mings back in. It’s far from ideal.

Let's think positive - the majority of Feb's games are at home. March are not the worst fixtures either - if we have McGinn and/or Youri back for April we can finish the season strongly

Yep. Best thing about Unai is the no excuse culture!

Lindelof can play DM also. Could see that happening at some point.

What’s actually wrong with Tielemans?

Looked like a twisted ankle so most likely ligaments

Small silver lining, at least these injuries have all happened in January.

Even smaller silver lining, Kamara's wages won't count towards Uefa SCR (I think). Are we able to replace any more than Malen and Kamara in the European squad? It was either/or with Mings and Barkley and their injuries from what I remember, so they'd presumably take up the 3rd replacement if/when Doug and Tammy are confirmed.

Edit: forgot about Bailey, so as I understand it someone has to miss out.

Presumably we're removing Malen, Elliott and (probably) Kamara and replacing them with Abraham, Bailey and Douglas Luiz?

Or if we decide that CM is more important, replacing those three with Abraham, DL and Barkley?

Remember we can also name someone and then have an injury cover for them so McGinn/Tielemans in the squad but covered by Bailey/Barkley temporarily seems the most sensible option (with the other one added permanently as part of the 3 we're allowed).

I've just checked who started the "Injury updates" thread and now everything makes sense.

Someone posted a video of the slow mo of the tackle and it looks like Youri's ankle almost does a 150 degree spin.

Do we have anyone else who can slide a ball from 40 yards like Tielemans? Huge loss.

Is Lindelof half-decent on the ball at least? I wonder do we use Elliott in the short term just to help... I've no confidence in Onana being fit for more than 5 games at a time.

Barkley looked pretty good at it for Luton but for me, he now looks too slow and immobile to play as protection for the back line. But I guess needs must. I'd be trusting and rotating Bogarde and Hemmings when Onana is inevitably out. Sink or swim.

Unless there's a good reason not to I'd definitely be giving Hemmings a good 20 minutes in every game from now on, just in case he's called on to be doing longer before too long.
