Surprised to hear of anyone under 40 named Brian
Apparently there were 71 new Brian's in the Uk in 2024, which is more than I expected and more than there were new Paul's (65) and Lee's (22).
I'm genuinely stunned that any kids born this year share my name, it feels like it was exclusively the preserve of 1974-1978.
No way! Only 65 new Pauls in the entire UK in 2024?
Yeah that surprised me as well as I thought Biblical names would always do solid business.
Maybe Breaking Bad has done a kind of reverse-Damascene-conversion and they're all getting called Saul now?
Nope, even less of those (19).
On weird shit, at the lower end of the wtf scale there were 775 Jaxon's, 270 Jaxson's and 465 Jax's which is mostly just a trendy spelling but is still odd.
At the other end some shocking shit is 31 one boys called Baby, 57 called Buddy, a whole bunch of Rivers and Oceans and finally, the most shameful of the lot, is as a category, the sheer amount given the surname footballers as their first name, all combined there's loads of these.
There were also 203 Ozzy's and I suspect that's gone up massively since.
Sorry if this is really dull but I downloaded the spradsheets from the government website and have spent entirely too much time looking through them.
