We really know what we're doing when it comes to transfers. I guess they're busy people. Who's got time to learn what the fucking rules of the game are when there's so much money to be wasted?

It is exactly this sort of shit which makes the 'PSR hates us' arguments less convincing.

If they're that onerous, what the fuck are we doing even trying to spend 10m on a child anyway?

And that's before you even get on to "and how come we don't know the fucking rules?"

Indeed - our level of competence in the transfer market has really diminished. You would think a club that is treading the line so muchwould more judicious in a. buying players the manager will actually use and b. being across every detail that matters.

Fairly obviously, because PSR rules don't let us sign players who are already stars so we have to speculate on future prospects either for our first team or to be sold on at a profit.

Maybe they saw something in him and decided to invest. Arsenal bought Theo Walcott as a 17 year old.

These rules have just created footballing farms. Sign them young, fatten them up on loan, sell them for a few quid more and hopefully one day ones a gem, which you sell for millions and puts us top of the PSR table. We keep doing this, in twenty years time we can afford to buy a player who might be good enough to start.

And how many 17 year olds turn out to be as good as Walcott?

I just do not get this, i get the concept of investing in kids, I do, but when there are gaping requirements for actual play-them-now signings?

What happened to all the other kids we bought in recent years? The Turkish lad punted off already. Barrenechea. What was the point in those?

And - even more perplexingly, on a related note - why on earth did we waste time, effort and money to find ourselves with Harvey Elliot sat on the bench doing sudokus when we have a massive midfield injury crisis?

A youngster doesn't have to be that good to go for well over 10m. Look at Archer, Philo etc. And if they are very good, it's Duran money.

Kellyman went for £20m and now he's playing in the Championship.

Bellingham was only 17 when he escaped to Dortmund.

UK were still in Europe at that point though in 2020.

Well yeah, but for us specifically £10m is an amount that matters.

In pure transfer fees we only spent £25m odd on the first team this summer - the majority of which is on a player already shipped out.
