I think he was injured for a while, then found Thompson, Merson and Hendrie were competing for places in the midfield.

There's a video of a live For The Love Of McGrath podcast recorded in Dublin last week with special guests Tayles, Drapes, Wrighty and Tommy Johnson as they celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Coca Coler.

Hilarious in parts, some great stories by all of them.
Draper just got pissed too often back then by the sound of things. Probably still does. Said that he hated Gregory.
Funny/sad stories from Alan Wright about God too.

Worth a watch: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=37v8P0mAEFo

you get the impression from a few that have spoken over the years that Gregory could be a total whopper

I had the pleasure of sitting behind the dug out watching Gregory shout abuse at the poor full back for 90 mins. He gave the impression of being a stick rather than carrot man.

I get that impression from having listened to Gregory speak.

Most people have that impression of him from when he was our manager.

There was a good video from the club itself featuring Little, Townsend, Draper and Wright plus Bosnich over satellite.

Most people have that impression of him from when he was our manager.

And yet... He's still regarded as One Of Us by many. Whatever he was like as a manager he was good at getting people onside.

I pretty quickly thought he was unpleasant twat. Nothing in the 25 odd years since has changed my mind.

A lot of good players left under Gregory. Whether that was a reflection on Ellis's lack of ambition or Gregory's attitude towards some of the players, who knows?

Even he might struggle with getting Ollie "onside"
