Excellent read Dave. If there is trouble and any of Villa, WMP or the SAG are blamed, I'll be the first to march on Downing Street. I can't believe that a Labour PM finds himself on the same side of the argument as Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, especially as he's supposed to be a football supporter.

Very sorry state of affairs. I wonder if it had been one of the scab six the reactions would have been the same?

That is the calmest and most balanced analysis of the situation you are likely to read.

The title of this was much along the same lines of my thoughts when the draw was made, other than a likely 3 points it was the worst possible draw in every other way and knew nothing good could come from it.  My only surprise is that it took about 6 weeks for it really to kick off in the way that it has now.

I think you've encapsulated the situation really well Dave as it would be so easy to just lose it writing a piece about this.
The whole thing makes me sad and angry that my club was/is being dragged through the mud by people in so called authority in a desperate attempt to be relevant.
Its pathetic that the apparent leader of this country has acted in this way, but sadly most other political and social media wannabies have aswell.
I can't wait for it to be over so the media, politicians etc can f*** off and rail against the next load of divisive shite.

3-0 Villa btw.

I don't think that's necessarily true... In as far as I can guess anything at all about Starmer, I'd say he's just a weak, weak man promoted way beyond his abilities.

@Dave: Excellent piece.

"But whatever happens, you know the Villa will come out of it looking badly, dragged into a problem that wasn’t of our making. And that’s what really grates – the way in which my club and my city have been denigrated by people who know nothing of either and have probably never set foot in them. To read the BBC’s website saying that the affair “casts doubts” over Birmingham hosting future sporting competitions is both sad and annoying. To read Birmingham Live saying the same thing, but only about Villa Park, was depressing and inevitable." - this, 100%!!!

That is way out the best analysis that I have seen. To claim that it is not a serious safety issue - and I heard that first hand from the police - and stir up political and ill informed arguments is, I regret a sign of our intolerant populace.
