Coventry or Ipswich I suspect.

He can do better than that, but whatever he does good luck to him.

Leipzig wanted him last year. They'll lose at least one of Nusa and Diomande this summer, so chucking £25m at Liverpool for Harvey as a replacement would probably suit everybody involved. Particularly given Liverpool have been mentioned as a probable destination for the above two.

Based on what we've seen of the Bundesliga and the space they're happy to leave attacking midfielders I imagine he'd have a lovely time there.

He's had a frustrating season and barely kicked a ball for us. But he leaves having won more than all our players over the past 30 years. And got paid more than many people will earn in a lifetime. Not too bad for a nightmare season.

And he did score in the tournament so it's not like he doesn't deserve his medal.

I think his only goal was in the League Cup defeat at Brentford.

I think he's handled things as well as you can possibly expect to his credit. H's never moaned, never made excuses, just understood that things didn't work out and his game time ended up being dictated, to a large extent, by decisions outside his control.

I think his attitude will help him out massively in finding somewhere else for next season and hopefully he's still learned a lot from being around players like McGinn, Buendia and Tielemans in particular as all of them have elements to their play and personalities that he could take a lot from.

Begs the question - why did we take him on loan - pay his wages and not play him?

Because if we played him we would have been obligated to buy him.

And a combination of Buendia's form and Elliott not quite fitting meant that we didn’t want to commit that money to the latter.

According to a report the other day Emery never wanted Elliot or Sancho in the first place and that was one of the reasons Monchi got the tin tack.

He gave Sancho every chance so not sure about that one. Some of our recent signings have been very odd, don't think Emery rated Malen, Guessand, Kostas, Garcia either. But the narrative that Monchi is at fault for the poor signings and Emery gets the credit for the good ones is a false one. Picking up Lindelof on a free and getting his career back on track seems superb business now.

Yeah but he can give Sancho every chance without a looming decent sized purchase around the corner.

I don't doubt that for a second - Emery wanted Rashford.

There might be an element of truth to that, but I do not believe for a second Unai doesn’t sign-off on players we bring in. Once it was clear Rashford wasn’t coming I doubt Unai just threw his hands up and Monchi went rogue. Sancho has been used a fair bit as a lower grade version of Rashford. I suspect Elliott would have had an opportunity had it not been for the remarkable resurgence of Emi B, which meant it not longer made sense to sign Elliott.
