I do not see how he could be worse than Bailey or Sancho.

Villa's official account wishing him a happy 23rd birthday today.

The cake they gave him did say 'Get fucked perm-head' on it, though.

He's only allowed to have three slices. Any more than that and the club have to buy the whole cake.

I noticed on the bench last night he was just as happy as any other player and reacted as much as the fans.

Am I being stupid in thinking there is a possibility that Emery likes him but Villa cannot afford him at the moment and are holding out for a knock down price in the summer?

No, it will be thank you and goodbye, same for Dougie, and I've no pleasure saying that.

I think you’re right about Dougie. His no show last night spoke volumes I’m afraid. He’s not going to be staying.

Naaaa.  No player is going to forfeit a year of his career to get a move from Liverpool to Villa.

The whole deal has been a shambles but the players appear to have been good by Elliot, they could've ostracized him completely.

I feel for him and he's been a credit to himself how he's handled it in all honesty. You'd hope in future that will pay off for him as it speaks very highly of his character and professionalism.

Yep, wish him nothing but the best.  He hasn't moaned, has apparently trained well all season, never gone to the press to put pressure on the clubs in January - all of which hundreds of other players would have done.

He's not coming back here next season, I think that much is clear.  No way are Liverpool getting what they wanted from us from someone else, either.

Whether he gets another chance at Liverpool post-Salah, or somewhere else to rebuild his career, I don't know.  But he's talented enough to play towards the top end of the Premier League, so I hope for his sake he gets that opportunity next season.

This whole saga leaves a horrible taste in the mouth, particularly for a player who had already lost two large chunks of his young career to serious injury.  Being fit and unable to play must have been hard.

I don't feel sorry for him. He made a move and it hasn't worked out. If we had signed him and it had worked out and Real came in for him he'd be straight off. Shit happens and players and clubs do what's best for them.

That’s fair enough, but I would look at the specific circumstances of this one and struggle not to sympathise with the player.
