It is a modern day blight on the game. Possession for possession sake. England had a massive problem under Southgate with Maguire having loads of the ball meaning they could not get out and were often pinned in, going nowhere.

He can pass and when he has Teilemans and Kamara in front, who take a pass under pressure, or the option of a long pass to a willing runner (in the past Bailey and Diaby) it means team do have to engage with us.
Watching the first back Id pin that one mostly on Konsa too. No defensive screen to stop that first ball into the forward. But Konsa goes with him initially and then just stops up in no man's land. You either track the run and force the forward to play backwards or hold your position in the defensive line. He did neither. The forward is allowed to turn under no pressure and slips their winger into the gap that Konsa left. Cash is caught out of position too but nigh on impossible play offside with no pressure on a 10 yard pass from there. Keeper gets done with admittedly sharp footwork though it's a scenario Martinez usually deals with.

Konsa and Cash were culpable for the 2nd goal, and the third goal came about because both had left the far post unmarked.
