Went to the game. Very disappointing. I was concerned  after Brentford ,however this was far worse and even more worrying. I have thought for a while that there is more than PSR and SCR to blame for our troubles. This performance  more or less confirmed it.

The worse thing about tonight, is that it felt inevitable. We huffed and puffed for the first 10 mins, won a few corners, that was the grand scale of that half. Much more lively first 15/20 of the 2nd half, largely inspired by Beundia running forwards with the ball, but in truth we never looked like scoring.
No manager is beyond criticism and Emery has to find a way through this, but he surely has lots of credit in the bank. He’s also been dealt an incredibly bad hand this summer. If Lindelof, Guessand and Bizot end up being our business after selling Martinez, Ramsey and Bailey and others becoming subsequently unsettled, there is large degrees of culpability from those in charge of supporting the manager.
I was there till the bitter end tonight and feels like it might not be the only time this year.

And, in a very rare moment of magnanimity, wasn't that Wharton impressive, I don't think I saw him give the ball away once. Terrific player.

McGinn started lively first 15 mins then Wharton took control of the whole game. Very, very good player.

Yeah, he's going to go for a fuck load of money next season.

I'm surprised Chelsea didn't put an £80mil bid in, they seems to be buying every other clubs players this summer.

Just watched highlights on motd. Gueyhe's brilliant goal was a direct result of a missed pass by Cash. That's 3 out of the last 4 games he's cost us a goal with sloppy passing. He really isn't good enough at this level.

Direct result? Are you missing Konsa whacking a clearance under no pressure at McGinn. Cash had half blocked the cross to make it quite an easy clearance to begin with.

Cmon, you know Cash losing it in the middle of the oppositions half trumps Konsa thinking McGinn could control the ball that was travelling at speed whilst bouncing and whilst he had two players on him. (And also Bizot deciding he should attempt to run out to tackle Guehi or whatever thought he had to suddenly run forward from his goal line for.

Cash was on the grassy knoll too.

I think that easy passes straight to the opposition in the middle of the pitch and playing attackers onside all the time is really helpful if you want to concede goals.

One straw I'm grasping at is that we have not been outplayed in any of our three games so far and we actually controlled much of tonight's game and at Brentford. One of Palace's lads was interviewed after the game and said they are our kryptonite. Guehi will never score a goal like that again, some of his teammates were wondering if he meant it. That little prick Sarr clearly pumps himself up for our games more than any other opponent. At least there was karma with the cheating cvnt injuring himself during his elaborate dive which he was duly booked for.

We badly need a Plan B when we go behind against a team happy to play on the counter. Emery being schooled by Glasner yet again sticks in the craw but our philosophy of slow-slow-quick is what we did for large portions of the game and he said himself that we followed the gameplan.

Agree Eamon, I don’t think we played that badly, but we are playing without any threat or menace to the opposition.
With our continued capacity to concede easily , we know what’s coming as the results suck any semblance of confidence out of the group.

Said last season that Glasner has Emery’s number, and it’s been proven time and again that he has. It just seems that we don’t really have a plan b when the game goes against us - I know that current injuries limit our options, but we just don’t seem to mix it up, and keep with the patient (slow) build up, which when we are losing can be a frustrating watch. Interesting that our clearest chance last night came from a long ball over the top, which Ollie was unable to slot.

I also think we are crying out for players to carry the ball and run at teams, this creating space for others to run into - Ramsey was such a player, as was Rogers, but he’s so far off it right now it’s untrue - he needs to find his form and quick.

Thank fcuk for the international break - there’s a lot of work to be done, and some home truths to be addressed as things stand.

Out of all the terrible things that have happened in the last 24 hours, the use of "goal tender" is the worst

It wasn’t about Glasner having better tactics, it was about him having better players. They moved the ball around with ease in that first half, remember when we were able to do that? That was when we Kamara and Luiz, both great at receiving and passing the ball.

Yep and remember  when a host of people were saying luiz and diabs wouldnt be a big miss. They have been huge misses  for us. Diaby was exactly what we needed yesterday

Cash needs dropping. I'm at the point with him that I'd rather see Konsa and forget attacking down that side.

The most predictable thing last night was that when we started to actually look like we could do something in the second half, they were going to score again.

That’s what worries me.

There has been some seriously poor man management over the summer, clearly. Contrast, for example, their player almost certain to leave today, being one of the best on the pitch last night, with ours, sat at home watching antiques roadshow.

I get that the Martinez situation is difficult, but that’s football, and that’s why the people in charge are paid to manage it.

Easily the worst thing and the most worrying too last night was the dreadful body language. There’s something properly wrong.

International break is handy in that we won’t have a game next week but most of the players won’t be there either.
