Our good half / bad half pattern usually goes: good followed by bad. When was the last time we did a bad followed by good?

Another bad omen: I'm in Mexico and the last time i was in Mexico for the opening day Newcastle spanked us and Mings did his ACL.

I think I was in Mexico then too.

I must say though, Tonali and Barnes have been good for them.

Malen and Guessand on for Onana and McGinn,  get Rogers more central and drop Tielemans deeper.

Absolutely  atrocious  performance  so far. One of the worst 1st half passing displays ive seen at home for years.

Hyperbole much?

Love how you quote only my post (and only post in match thread) as it echos most of the thread but no suprise there

I didn’t see anyone else say something so extreme.

In fairness, we didn't have a shot and only got into their box about twice. I don't think that will have happened ever under Unai so it isn't that hyperbolic.  That is not a first half that bodes well, it all look very one-paced and stale.

All true, but it’s 0-0. We’ve had far worse experiences against these to start the season.

We’ve given them way too much respect and allowed them to have too much of the ball. Just imagine if Isak was up front for them. We’d be a couple down. I don’t understand why we set up this way so I’m hoping it’s a lot more of us second half

What Newcastle want is opposition to battle them and play through midfield - we’re giving them exactly what they want.

We've had loads of tepid first half's at Villa Park under Unai and gone on to win in the second. Keep the faith.

Malen has to become more involved at some point, paid 20m for him and he’s on 140k/wk.

TBF, he is correct about it being one of our worst passing displays for years.

Villa registered a pass success rate of just 72.9 per cent in that half - a long way below their average of 85.3 per cent last season.
