I don’t think you can blame the managers for WHAM!’s recruitment strategy. What the manager wants is less important than what Sullivan wants, and the most important thing is getting a deal on the cheap.

I'm not sure that stands up to scrutiny.

They spent nearly £50m on new strikers in January alone.

£40m on Todibo, another £40m on Kilman, another £200m combined on Paqueta, Kudus, Guilherme, Alvarez and Ward-Prowse.

They've spent phenomenal amounts of money, just most it very badly.

I’m not saying they haven’t spent money, but the same as you, it’s been spent badly and not on what they actually need or the manager wants.

Look at Ings, the Duran saga, Fullkrug.

Sullivan is famous for getting involved in transfer dealings and pushing players, and we all know he’s a cheapskate.

But the evidence isn’t that he's a "cheap-skate" when it comes to West Ham. They've spent far more money on players than they should have.

Sullivan and Brady have played a blinder, made a fortune and left a massive pile of shit behind. And the reward? Well for one a seat in the Lords and a reputation as the first lady of football, prime time TV exposure as some sort of entrepreneur where in reality she has shit on everyone she could with lies and manipulation. But this Country loves people like her so they always prosper.

As for the other......

Me and Risso were at the first game of last season together, I said then they had big problems as they were mush and had just spent a fortune.

Don't watch a huge amount of other football these days but since then they've stood out as the poorest side in the league.

Hopefully he gets prosecuted and is forced to sell the deprecated asset at the further loss.

Well, a lot of that money has come from selling portions of the club to outside investors and using that money.

Being a cheapskate doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t spend anything, you can spend a lot. The key bit being that you end up buying much poorer than you could, just to save a little bit of money.

I mean Doug Ellis spent…!

WHAM!s problems are down to the owners. I don’t think many people would lay that at the door of their recent managers.

Daniel Křetínský bought 27% of the club in 2021 for around £200m, a combination of newly issued shares and some from Sullivan and Gold.

Bringing in Kilman from Wolves was surely on Lopetegui. Insane money, guess he was solid enough at Wolves but who authorises 40m on him. Scamacca, Ings, Fullkrug, Guilherme (don't remember him!) all had no impact.

Bit unfortunate to go down with 39 points all the same, points per game under Nuno must have been solid enough. Their squad is garbage though and don't think they will come straight back up.

Definitely. But that's got nothing to do with trying to do things on the cheap.

They're just bad at owning football clubs in spite of spending huge amounts of money. They're not bad at it because they don't spend enough money.

This year, I predicted that unless the promoted teams had an awful season, Wolves, West Ham and Brentford could be down. Obviously Brentford was a surprise package (although they did spend shit-loads of the money they brought in) but the other two was pretty much going to happen, especially when Potter did nothing with them in the 5 months he had last season.
