Southampton expelled from the playoff and a four point deduction for next season.

That'll learn 'em!

To add insult to injury they are deducting 4 points for the start of next season. That’s not strictly necessary is it?
My guess is that the decision will stand, but they won’t get the additional points deduction.

That's what I'm hoping for as points deduction might help Blose (and possibly Tottenham if we are still being optimistic).

That doesn't give Hull much time to spy on Boro's preparations...

They absolutely had to go strong with any potential punishment. A fine would have been pointless with the money involved in getting promoted, and a mere points deduction equally pointless as if Southampton got promoted, there was nothing forcing the PL to carry a deduction over

Apparently they also did it in the match against Oxford. In my unbiased opinion, Oxford should be reinstated and West Brom relegated.

I'm not sure anything will help with the appeal but you never know.

Southampton had admitted to "multiple breaches of EFL regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other clubs' training", the EFL said.

Not just Middlesboro but loads as mentioned in one of the papers last week. They might mention the Leeds punishment as precendent but Leeds was charged only under a generic rule last time where this one is a specific one banning the actions they did multiple times.

What's funny is they didn't even win any of the games they spied on, lost one and drawn twice.

Edit: why did I go 'drawn' and not 'drew'? Strange.

Chelsea admit cheating and deception, buy loads of players and win 7 trophies because of it and get NO SPORTING SANCTIONS and a £10m fine. Not only sporting sanctions for Soton but potential loss of £150m. One rule for the top clubs and one for everybody else.I'm sure their spying didn't influence the result unlike the VAR decisions for,Arsenal, Man U and Celtic. Corruption at all the top levels of football?

Southampton must be kicking themselves for not being owned by an Emir.

Southampton with only themselves to blame,  a huge school boy error. And on 3 occasions, Jesus wept.
No doubt 115's punishment will be smaller than the £150M Southampton have foregone, if anybody ever gets round to looking at it. HS2 will be up and running before those clowns are dealt with..

With Southampton able to appeal, how can the game go ahead on Saturday?

Not sure why they didn’t get the same as Leeds.
Feel for Hull for disruption to their preparation.
Why did it take so long to charge the other offences?
Why don’t Millwall also get a second shot at it since they are in the same position as Boro.

A can of worms has been opened.

Would be fun if they don't announce the outcome of the appeal before kick off. Would be quite exciting having a mystery finalist. Middlesbrough could turn up wearing Southampton shirts to add to the tension.
