Don’t know why the commentators are saying it shouldn’t be given.

That’s a Pen in any league

Absolutely!

It's not that I think it wasn't a penalty. Just a classic one that makes you wonder about level playing fields and such.

And not because of corruption or grand schemes involving Keir Starmer's toenail clipper. Just that refs are cops, and love sucking up.

Doesn't this particular conspiracy theory rather assume that Arsenal are someone that UEFA give the tiniest toss about?

I can't think of a single reason why the shadowy UEFA suits would lose a single moment of sleep over trying to get Arsenal to lose in the final rather than the marginally bigger, more prestigious team that they're playing.

As I said, I'm not saying that wasn't a penalty. I'm asking what we think would happen were a Villa player (or a Burnley player or whatever) bundled over similarly at the Emirates.

I think that around 98% of arguable penalties, everyone will tell themselves that it should have definitely gone in the direction that they wanted.

Brexit Wood vs Robbie Savage's Forest Green in the playoffs. Hmm, can they both lose?

Alright Corrigan, and private equity firms receive QE cash because they deserve it.

No, you're right. UEFA have leant on the referee because getting Arsenal to the final is, for unclear reasons, an important part of their plan for something or other.

Imagine the angry faces in Nyon if it turned out that it's that team that normally does better than Arsenal that went through instead.

I mean, I was being silly with this last one (not least because I'm by definition calling myself Jez...!), but I really think we should read what the actual point being made is before responding to it.
