Hope is a lie.

I'm feeling gloomy too but doubt we'll be lower than 6th. No way in the world we win the Europa, things like that don't happen to us.

I must admit I’m not overly confident on the Europa League front.

If we fuck it up, we're scrapping round the back of the bins again in the summer to pick up some players, probably have to sell too. Will be a disaster and make it even more difficult (impossible) next season.

Now or never to really kick on and give ourselves a good chance of cementing ourselves up there.

I think we'll look back at this season as one where we either kicked on to the next level, or pretty much accept our place as trying to be the best of the rest. That's how important it is.

A line from the commentator on Talksport after the game really summed it up for me.  He said that the goal had come from their 3 big summer signings;  £60m+ Cunha to £70m+ Mbuemo who squared it to £60m+ Sesko to score.  £190m+ on 3 players and goodness knows how much on wages after finishing 15th in the league and not featuring in the Champions League.

Man Utd are the leagues biggest spending team in the last five years. They should be near the top with the squad they have. We can only dream of signing players like Cuhna or Mbuemo, they get both in one window.

We just need Emery to work his magic and figure a way to get through the next few matches before we start getting players fit again.

Just duck off the lot of you. Manu have had unbelievable  luck in the last 5 or 6 games whilst we have been very poor and they are still behind us. The current runs for both teams will not continue and normal adjustments will take care of the league table. We will finish third so put your wrist slasher away now.

It was always naive to think that teams having spent the amount they have would be crap all season, let alone not skank 1-0 wins.

We need to improve, and I have every confidence we will, but looking at the season as a whole we really have been very good and given ourselves a good chance of CL qualification via the PL route. We didn't have the squad to win the league, even with everyone fit and we might not have the squad to get CL now we have suffered the setbacks. But I don't believe Emery has any doubts, about either route. That's the attitude that has got us where we are and it's good enough for me.

With everyone fit, I think we’d have still been challenging for the league.  But yes, we’re trying to compete with teams who have spent nearly a billion pounds more than us in the last 5 years, let alone the last 15.  It’s a miracle we’re up there.

But all that aside, missing out now would be properly shit.  Hence the nerves I suppose.  We need to beat wolves on Friday.

A few weeks ago I was really looking forward to going to the Custard Bowl and finally turning them over.  Now I'm not sure at all.
