You've made that up. In the last two games, in which he has scored four times, Malen has played as a lone striker. Dybala didn't play in either game, as he is out injured, as he very often is.

As others have pointed out, it’s Dybala’s injuries that are his issue. You’re right about linking the play, he’s a beautifully creative player but don’t think he’s ever been one to run around too much and work the channels.
