Slot’s a funny one. A leading manager from a minor league, I think he got extremely lucky last year - obviously there was the fact that Klopp had left him a top 5 team, but also they had a bit of a nightmare window last summer that basically left him with no new (his choice) players, which in turn meant he couldn’t really tinker. That turned out to his advantage, coupled with the very indifferent performances of City and Arsenal. He has the Dutch way of plain speaking which, when the pressure is on, also sounds rather thin skinned. He is under the kind of pressure now that one might have expected last winter (got to give it time to bed in, etc.), except that while back then that might have sounded reasonable (just arrived), it is now less so, especially given he spunked up £400m in between times. Will be interesting to see how that plays out over the next 12-18 months. In my view, he’s a good continental coach but no more than that. Will he get found out?

Rogers and Konsa both start, as expected. Just come back in one piece.
