Rangers beat Panathinaikos 2-0 in the first leg of their UCL - 2nd Qualifying Round tie.

At least if Rangers go through, they won't drop into the Europa League (I think).

Still enter but don't have to do as many qualifiers depending when they lose.

Quote
All teams eliminated from the League Path enter the Europa League:

The 3 losers of the second qualifying round enter the Main Path third qualifying round.
The 4 losers of the third qualifying round enter the league phase.
The 2 losers of the play-off round enter the league phase.

I see that match officials tonight have dressed in German flags.

Those penalties in the England game the other night were the worst I’ve ever seen.

And for balance and equality purposes, I include men’s football in that.

12.30 minutes into this. Although as with the women the other night, the entertainment value was actually better.

I've got to say I'm all for comical penalty shoot outs, modern players stuttering or lasering the ball into the top corner is boring as fuck, for me the joy in the penalty shootout is the pressure turning otherwise capable athletes to jelly.

It makes for a better penalty shootout when Team A misses followed by Team B missing two (unless you support Team B).

I don't mind it. But my priority would be banning stuttered run-ups.

As soon as a penalty is struck the play is open for anything from a pass, to a corner to a goal, and even on the odd occaision, a fast break and goal the other end. They now seem to want it to be its own play and as soon as the ball is struck, it is either a goal or a goal kick depending if the ball is scored. Every other player might as well stand on the halfway line whilst it is occurring.

I can't say that this worries me. In fact, I reckon it's good. Penalty takers have too many advantages already, allowed to hop, skip, jump and pirouette on the way to the spot while keepers can't move an inch. So taking away the second bite of the cherry seems reasonable.
