Actually, the new per match ticket distribution method is royally fucked. What's stopping a season ticket holder sharing his log in ID with anyone that buys a match ticket off him? They download the ticket to their phone, and the club are none the wiser?!
Having a one-shot season ticket that can only be added to a wallet once eliminates this cheat.

That's what we are doing - download app - share login details.

Option 1 - Premier League football club is benevolent and happy for fans to share tickets at no charge and change the functionality of the app to do this - unless you have a concession ticket then fair enough.

Option 2 - Premier League club can sniff a revenue opportunity and cash in on something fans like to do/have to do - so the club enables it - at a cost.

I know which one my money is on.

Option 2. Not one sniff of that in any terms of conditions or information to the customer is against consumer rules and would be an easy loss in courts. It might be there this season ready for next, and accidently turned on but definitely not meant to be on this season.

Hi guys, I failed with my physical card request! Hence I've gone digital now. No problem installing the latest AV App & downloading the Newcastle ticket and putting it into my Google wallet. However,  just a query: on the original ticket download - it's got a greyed out square saying "Available 3 hours before kick off" does this update to a QR code? And in my wallet it just has the wifi symbol? What happens next? Thanks guys....

That’s all my season ticket had last season so I wouldn’t worry.

I would need direct confirmation from someone on here before I believe it. There are pics from one person online stating it happened but others have had no issue so it seems more to be a bug and the people are not being detected in friends and family.

I've asked my mate if he needed to pay anything, and he's said he hasn't, but the ticket won't be available to download to his Google wallet until 3 hours before kick off, which is different to last year. That shouldn't be a massive problem, though, as long as he isn't expected to pay anything to release it? I've no reason to think that will be the case though.

My understanding is that you would only need to pay if you were in a different price category - so a child ticket going to an adult, that kind of thing. That would make sense.

The whole ticketing operation at Villa is an absolute shit show.

The ironic thing is that for years, the ticket office was about the only thing at the club that worked as it should

Agree.you try getting through by phone. They're totally overwhelmed and saying we can't answer your call due to "extremely high demand" Similar to this time last year. It was better when they had a proper ticket office at Villa Park.

For those who has successfully applied for a physical card season ticket, have they arrived yet?

I think they said they will get a print-at-home ticket for the Newcastle match - again brilliant comms from the club.

No, and they won't until after the Newcastle game.

The physical card details were sent directly to the email addresses of the small percentage of people who qualified for them (along with the actual print at home ticket attachment). What should they have done?

Not rely on twitter to update season ticket holders of how to use things for a start.

Hi, yes it updates to make the ticket live at that point. The QR code will be live but that shouldn't matter if you have NFC enabled.

I agree that they have apps and a website so could easily have a support section there rather then just the twitter AVFCSupport account, but your comment was complaining about the physical card details which has been emailed out to all the people who qualified, so I was wondering what else you wanted Villa to do for those users.
