I like it, so what present Villa songs do H&V like?

Same here, other clubs also sing it but ours is one of the better versions. I particularly like the fact that you can hear the Brummie twang when we sing 'nineteen eighty twooooo'.

I don't mind it in moderation. However, as I've said in the past, I wish we had a unique-to-us anthem that is part of the Villa tradition. That's about the only thing that our nearest neighbours have over us

That would be nice but and it’s a big but, we all know that after a period of time it would be loathed. Look at Arsenal and their faux anthem, their fans are on board for now. Will it last? An anthem needs a degree of longevity to be seen as an anthem otherwise it all looks too contrived. Holte Enders in the Sky is the nearest we have to one so maybe if we were to sing the full Ghost Riders in the Sky might work. Getting it off the ground would be nigh impossible.

Its horrible.
But sadly it is our go to dirge.

It’s not even our song. It’s just become that way. And yeh I can’t stand it either.

I like the My Old Man song, particularly impressive when bellowed out by half a dozen middle aged men in a train carriage mainly composed of families with young children.

Start your own chants to improve variety.

I'm sure when I heard that song "Robert" had become "Bobby".

'Allez' is bearable.
'On the Piss my lord' definitely isn't.
Obsessing over the Bluz is small-time.

I quite like how some clubs have managed to requisition a song for themselves (Stoke / Dililah and Forest / Mull) - could we identify one that could be sung at the beginning and end of a half?

Separately, I like 'when you're smiling' from the old days ...

"When you're smiling, keep on smiling,
The Holte End smiles with you.
And when you're laughing, oh when you're laughing,
The sun comes shining through.
But when you're crying, you bring on the rain,
So stop your sighing, be happy again.
keep on smiling, 'cause when you're smiling,
The Holte End smiles with you"

I don’t like hi ho Aston Villa, it’s all a bit Wolves for me, but many happy clappers seem to love it.

The Bells should always be the one.

Didn't work when we brought it back as a walk on tune years ago.

HEITS is the nearest we have and could possibly be reworked into some anthem like they've done with Allez Allez. Innocent little me was a bit perturbed when years back someone on here posted the full version of HEITS and it included a few references to our neighbours! I always just assumed it was some sort of tribute to all the Villa fans who've passed on down the years but clearly not.

Most chants are nicked. Forest in build up to their SF were singing the CL chant "Forest boys taking over..." and Newcastle were singing it last week.

I always enjoyed hearing a hearty rendition of We Shall Overcome, most popular in the mid to late 1960s.

We shall not be moved is a decent one if we're hanging on to a big win near the end. I like hearing the Holte in full voice chanting it.
