Our equivalents of Keep Right On in the 50s were Its a long way to get to Wembley and There’ll always be a Villa but clearly hasn’t lasted with time.

Son you’ll be a Villa fan in the 60s.

Never liked the Bells are Ringing because it’s a Cockney tune but some history with Aston Church there.

Just wish we’d sing Villa, Villa, Villa tunefully again

I don’t like hi ho Aston Villa, it’s all a bit Wolves for me, but many happy clappers seem to love it.

Yeah I think it's a bit shit really. Particularly when the only relevant lyrics are changing silver lining to Aston Villa.

When I first started going a popular song was "My eyes have seen the glory of the Villa win the Cup...7 times we've won it, no one else can catch us up".
I may have heard it when I went to my first away game at Preston in 1967 and we won 1-0, but in the next round I saw us knocked out at Anfield. We got relegated but the next season convincingly beat Millwall at home in R3, only to then go out in the next round at home to bottom of the table Rotherham. 1969, a brave R5 defeat at Spurs. Two seasons in the 3rd division saw Round One defeats at Torquay and Southend.
Even though we were rubbish, I could gaze at the Argus Annual or Rothmans Yearbook...

I've never liked it either, mainly because it's a bit shit.

Think it was Norwich back in the eighties at Carrow Road, sung throughout the game constantly and loudly

I think the rendition of "Graham Taylor's Claret and Blue Army' at Goodison many moons ago takes some beating.

I wish they would use the word 'also' instead of 'even' with regards to 1982.

In a perfect world, everyone would sing witty, note-perfect adaptations of all my favourite songs.

Given that's not going to happen, I'll settle for the people who have paid loads of money and taken loads of time to support Villa to sing whatever they want to, as well as they're able to.

That 1968 less to Rotherham was my first ever game. Losing at home to bottom of the table Rotherham should have been a warning the FA cup isn’t for me.

Was about to point out the same.... The wording makes us a bit smalltime.

Regarding favourite chants, mine would be Dwight Yorke, Dwight Yorke. That being belted out by a raucous Villa Park will live long in the memory.
Annoyed that the Emery song to 'Let it Be' didn't stick - That could have been 'hairs on the back of the neck' good with everyone on song.
