Am I the only Villa fan who can't stand that song? It just feels like everyone else in the world  sings it, it seems to be the main thing we do sing these days  and it's a bit small time in my eyes  going on about conquering Europe forty three years ago. Don't get me wrong we've had some great chants and I still bloody love this club but I hate that song.

I don't like chants, full stop. What's wrong with quiet contemplation, punctuated by the occasional pithy remark about the referee's parentage? Who was the first person to start shouting at football matches and why didn't the other attendees have him removed? You don't get this nonsense at the theatre, FFS.

Bono's grandad.

I can’t stand it either. Every two minutes without fail, there it is again. It’s not about not wanting chants or atmosphere, it’s just that one that I hate.

It's a million times better than any of the "my lord" songs, and at least it doesn't mention Birmingham fucking City like seemingly half our chants have to.

For some reason it's the 'nineteen eighty twooooo' bit that I really hate.

I don't mind it in moderation. However, as I've said in the past, I wish we had a unique-to-us anthem that is part of the Villa tradition. That's about the only thing that our nearest neighbours have over us

I think the quality of songs has generally increased in recent years, certainly from the 1990s/2000s nadir when we kept singing about having only one of people. The Asensio, Rashford and Bailey songs are all decent, though the latter is too fast for me, I just tap my foot along with it.

If anything pisses me off, it’s the  ‘Birmingham, are you listening………..’ shite.

Firstly, why the fuck are they even on our radar ? They should be the furthest thing from our minds.
Secondly, we take the piss out of them, take bets on when we will hear the first ‘shit on the Villa’ when they are on the telly……..yet we are just as bad

Yeah, the atmosphere/variety of songs is much better nowadays than it was back then.

I don’t mind it too much.

I was really impressed at Southampton, our fans were singing all match, lots of different songs and chants. I didn’t hear any of those yesterday. I guess away days there’s more chance of our fans being in their usual groups.
