It’s fair to say that what we we have seen this summer is a passive, reactive approach generally which has proven to be a disaster.

You jest, but at least Anthony has shown he can do it still away from Yanited, Sancho hasn't. This isn't an endorsement.

Quite. Any half investigation shows Sancho disrupted at Dortmund (but was performing on the pitch so the management let it go to the ire of other squad members), disrupted at Manure, barely did anything of note at Chelsea so they didn't even bother taking up the option whilst still buying everyother attacking player in the Prem, and now he would be a good fit for us?

Man U have known the entire window that he wanted to go there, so they have just waited for us to accept their low-ball offer, knowing that come the end of the window we’d have to accept it or be faced with an unhappy player. It’s an impossible position to be in as a club.

Not sure this is accurate, it might have been had we not sold JJ (and Duran) but surely we can now tell them to get fucked should we wish to.

Not only that, its was widely reported that they had to spend £5m to send him back.

Also, we could spend £40m on an RB and not improve. It makes sense to gamble for this position as Cash isn’t leaving and we can’t afford two sets of big wages for a right back.

We could have spent the Garcia + Malen money on one in January.

We have bought 3 young defenders for approaching £25m and 2 of them have been loaned out and are seemingly not deemed good enough for us.

I know not every signing will work out, but the Rogers signing (current form aside) seems to have masked an awful lot of wasted money.

We’ve made a profit on two of them and Garcia is still with us (somewhere). These deals have arguably helped the situation.

Have we made a profit on them?

Not sure the Serbian lad has been sold, just on a cycle of loans that haven't been turned into a permanent move. And the same could well happen with the Turkish defender.

In summary.
Our financial problems are bigger than we thought.

We've handled them really badly this summer.

Our recruitment has been woeful, in particular the forward line.

We've gone backwards very quickly & things will get worse before they get better.

Martinez has been whoring himself to utd since January.

Had we offloaded him sooner would we have been able to keep JJ, who didn’t want to go ?

Is this the reasoning behind the cryptic messages from senior players over the last weeks ?

We've pretty much done a Leeds. gambled the house on CL, failed, and have left ourselves in the shit. Not as big a mess as they were but we took a gamble and lost and are now paying for it. The best case scenario seems to be hope to get through the season unscathed, have a cup run, and start again next season in a hopefully better financial situation.

Big money recruitment under Monchi has been piss poor. Diaby the only real success.

Yep. And there's a lot of very bad scenarios. Even relegation isn't impossible. There won't be a team that will finish in the top half of the Championship that started the weekend with a worse bench than ours.

We look like we’ve got half a dozen of them at the moment.

We absolutely do.  Half the team looks like it doesn’t want to be here.
