Whenever we’ve signed anyone in the last couple of / three years, it’s come out of a clear blue sky, so I’m hoping it’s business as usual in that respect.

This is true.

Let's hope that the clear blue sky delivers something useful.

Just saw something called Sub Prime Goals (maybe on X, can’t find it again now) saying we still need to raise £50m to comply with UEFA rules. It said read more in the app, which I got, but then it wanted me to subscribe, at which point I was out.

Edit: more relevant to FFP thread so I’ve put this in there now.

Who is this Marc Casado from Barca that the Spanish press seem to think we are in for?

He broke into the team last season and was a bit of a revelation - be surprised if Barca were selling, especially in the €30m range unless I’ve missed something. But he’s a defensive midfielder so can’t see why we’re going for him unless someone is off… I’d probably file under clickbait tbh

If we moved on the sick note that is Barkley, then we do need another midfielder. But why would you not just use Barronechea!

Apart from the occasional substitute appearance, if and when he is ever fit, I wonder what exactly Barkley brings to the squad. Just another drag on the wage bill.

Worries me that Asensio isn't over the line, are we still struggling with compliance?

Maybe we are delaying any new signings until as late as possible to reduce the impact on the wages bill ?
Save a month or two in salaries by signing at the end of August rather than in July ?

Every little helps.

When it’s £1million a month it’s worth doing!

Tanswell teasing us.

He's currently in Leeds at some event that he and Bardell couldn't divulge. I think I've watched more Villa podcasts in the last week than ever before. There's so much/too much of the stuff!

That’s Bamford nailed on then

BBC gossip page is not linking us with anyone.  I’m fearing the worst.
And also saying Crystal Palace are also in for one of the centre halves we've had a bid reject for.

It's far more likely that we're going to be relying on loan signings, and most clubs that would look to loan their players out will do so at the last minute in case someone comes in for them permanently beforehand.

Poor Asensio will have the indignity of a yellow sticker emblazoned on his lovely, strong chest displaying how much of a bargain he is but that he will expire soon.

I can't believe we're in so much trouble financially. Has someone misinterpreted the figures with the accounts? Or is it simply confusion navigating PSR, SCR etc.,
