I'm surprised at some of the talk at the moment...sell players, refresh, doomed, sell, get rid etc.
We are light years away from where we were in the Championship and are in our third season of European football. We have an England striker, PFA YPotY, one of the worlds top goalkeepers and many other very good players, the best manager we've had for 40+ years, the best u18 squad last season, lots of potential out on loan...

We've had two poor games. It won't continue.

Totally agree mate.

I dont think we need a total rebuild at all.

No indeed. A refreshment, not a rebuild. We just look stale and in need of a shot in the arm.

This window has been handled extremely poorly. There is no way we should be entering the last few days and a couple of bad games in in the position we are in with so much uncertainty and everything unsettled. Monchi and Vidagany have been totally off the ball in the prep and planning. I already have massive doubts over this Monchi bloke, he's doing nothing to quell them.

I wonder if the situation is complicated but the possibility for higher spending in January when (I think) last years CL earnings kick in?

Agree. A few tweaks in the right positions

Yes and another thing with Arsenal they have all these quality 15 and 18 year olds on their bench, when was the last time we had kids who looked like they could make such an impact.

Good call...  Dowman last night amazing, repeatedly driving at leeds players and Nwarni (last season) bending shots into the top corner and we get Bogardi's "not to me" antics on the edge of the box yesturday. "Old" Louis Barry must be knocking on 24 now and couldn't get a sniff whilst we stack the bench with goalies and punts from the european farmer leagues.

I’d have agreed before seeing the last couple of games. We’re toothless up front and a bit dodgy at the back.  If we lose a couple more players we are beyond tweaks I’d say.

I think my issue is the lack of targeting players like Rogers, the £10-15m potential players, in forward areas, that could make a huge difference. Guessand is a couple of years beyond that, but with our lack of pace, power and invention, I do wonder how and what we are scouting.

Apparently we've offered €18m + €2m add-ons for Geny Catamo at Sporting. They want €25m. I'm not convinced he's good enough and wouldn't want what little money we have being spent on him. Ideally a loan deal for the season with an option to buy would be the way to go.

Completely disagree. We were right to go for it in January and nearly found ourselves in a semi final of the European Cup but for 3 or 4 go-go-gadget arm saves from Donnarumma, a correct refereeing decision away from the Champions League again. Small margins.

We've been absolutely clobbered by the rules and forced to act in a way few clubs have. We have ridiculously got a positive net spend, we have the highest turnover coming in the clubs history, we have some of the wealthiest owners in world football, yet here we are being forced to drive out as many players as possible.

We have lost Rashford and Asensio, we've had to weaken further by selling Bailey and JJ. We've pushed out past mistakes and we've loaned a few youngsters too. The manager still says there is more to do.

Meanwhile clubs who would have failed SCR 8 times out of the last 9 years, such as Man United, who are significantly in debt and going through a period of non-playing staff cost retrenchment, with a stadium that has as many rats as tourists and that leaks like nobodies business when it rains, who finished lower midtable, have spent £200m. Because a costing ratio arbitrarily taken as a measure of financial security, allows them to. Same goes for Chelsea, who have spent £500m net since Emery took over, who would have failed SCR every year bar one for the past 20, are allowed to act with impunity.

I find the criticism glib and devoid of significant context.

He’s right alright.

Nobody is arguing with the shit end of the stick we are holding.  I think the debate is about whether it’s about to get shittier and how much hand washing is required.  Or something.

Yep, completely agree with Ads.

It’s a refreshing of the squad that’s need, a fair bit of it, but not a complete rebuild. That would be almost as mad as doing nothing.

One thing I was thinking last night is how much time senior officals at the club are having to spend trying to manage to these rules.  I think its all a much bigger distraction then we know - and is impacting the whole feel of the place.

It’s also actually using the players we do sign. I do get it can take time to settle, but the use (or lack of use) of Malen is just poor.

Or they don’t think he is up to it, which means it’s been a poor bit of business again.
