One thing I was thinking last night is how much time senior officals at the club are having to spend trying to manage to these rules.  I think its all a much bigger distraction then we know - and is impacting the whole feel of the place.

Yeah and all the time signing players who we don’t intend to play for the club is a pretty big drain I imagine, plus it’s pretty grim as a fan.

It’s also actually using the players we do sign. I do get it can take time to settle, but the use (or lack of use) of Malen is just poor.

I’d agree, same with Maatsen. He’d played for a top European side and in a champions league final, he’s definitely good enough. It was a bit more difficult because of Digne’s form but the point stands. It shouldn’t really take months and months to integrate new players.

It doesn’t seem to happen with other clubs to the same extent.

What it’s been indicative of in the first two games is excessive pragmatism and a lack of attacking intent.

Chukwuemeka on his way to Dortmund for a fee that could reach £24m. got to hand it to them. Chelsea are amazing at selling players on.

Hope we have a decent sell on fee.

Spot on
as summed up Unai ‘we tried to keep a clean sheet, then go on and win the game’

That’s the mantra for a few games now no matter who we play, we’re a far better team than Brentford right across the pitch. They’ve had their heart ripped out all their best players have gone, including their management and we’re treating them like a top six side keeping it tight and nicking a goal like some David Moyes, Sam Allardyce team

We are better than that. Remember when we took the game to Man city in their pomp and a few others total belief our abilities, where’s that gone
When was the last time we came out and had a real go from the off

And yet, we continue to sit Malan on the bench. I wonder if he’s one of the ones potentially going?
Which would be a shitshow within a shitshow.
Not that I'd blame him for wanting to go after we've been yanking his chain for the last 8 months.

Allegedly on £140k a week too. And we wanted him for two windows before we signed him.

Seems a helluva lot of effort and money for a player we’ve barely used.  The Rashford/Asensio/Malen transfers feel out of step with the usual clarity of thinking from the transfer/Emery team.

Newcastle home in April? Which makes recent performances make no sense.

Yes and another thing with Arsenal they have all these quality 15 and 18 year olds on their bench, when was the last time we had kids who looked like they could make such an impact.

Good call...  Dowman last night amazing, repeatedly driving at leeds players and Nwarni (last season) bending shots into the top corner and we get Bogardi's "not to me" antics on the edge of the box yesturday. "Old" Louis Barry must be knocking on 24 now and couldn't get a sniff whilst we stack the bench with goalies and punts from the european farmer leagues.

Yet I saw a table yesterday that had our academy 2nd for transfers received.  I agree/understand your point but it’s a bit harsh when, by another metric, its performed brilliantly.

Bogarde looked like a centre half playing in midfield yesterday , which is what he is of course .

UE mentioned more possible departures in this window....really? We're already down to the bare bones. What a depressing window this has been so far.

Hope we have a decent sell on fee.

I had no idea he was on loan there last season. They paid us £20m three years ago, the £24m is described as a fee rising to that figure so presumably includes performance related elements. Not sure it's genius business but I guess they haven't lost anything apart from however much his wages were.

His wages which are probably quite a lot!  But fuck it, they have the headroom and we mustn’t grumble.

Bizarre decision to bring him on, you are penning the opposition into their box and you gave a bloke who didn’t want the football anywhere near him.

I just dont understand  why we let ramsey go with no incoming  player just to decrease the squad even more. Poor planning by the club
