We don’t deserve to be trailing here.

Palace should be 3 up!

It was offside. Marginal but offside.

We need to be better.

Well it wasn’t. It was a clear mistake.

The VAR thing is annoying but let’s not let it distract from the fact that it’s another game where we’ve shot ourselves in the foot. It is ridiculous how inept we are and switch off defensively- I keep saying there is no point trying to play in a controlled way if you get such fundamentals wrong all the time.

If it wasn't for the "annoying" VAR, we'd be going into the break level, and on the front foot going into the second half.

Yeah but it’s offside - it’s not a wrong decision, it’s an annoying one.

We’re behind because we conceded a terrible goal and we nearly conceded two more.

But we do have "annoying" VAR so we aren't. No point moaning about it forever.

3 clean sheets in 28 league games is utter shit, the 15/16 shambles managed 6 and we don't look capable of matching that.

I'd say his knee probably was just offside looking at those pictures. What can you do? The new semi-automatic system would have given it as off as well, most likely. The debate on the framerate of when the ball is kicked can continue.

Thats never offside

If thats offside so is palaces

That's not how it works. Their goal our player at the top is clearly playing them on. Our one, I do think Watkin's knee is ahead of the shirt line of the Palace player, so he's off. I'm not sure why people are going so crazy about it, it's just a really tight offside. I can't wait for semi-automatic offsides to come in and you'll still see these happen because it just is what it is.

Why do Villa have such atrocious records at places like Selhurst Park and Stoke. I see these fixtures and I just know in my gut it won't be pleasant.

Anyway, think we’ve got goals in us and we’ve been ok at the back so think we can nab this.

It's not a clear and obvious error is it? In cricket they have umpires call where it's borderline and they stay with original decision. Any player will play on the shoulder because that's what you've learnt all your life but basically if you're half a step out of synch with the defender it's offside. It's total fucking bollocks. Basically teams have to relearn how to score.
Clear and obvious errors isint used for offside decisions though.

This. However they measure it, they decided he was offside. Move on.

More importantly, the manager needs to correct some of his manifold selection errors and the players need to buck the fuck up.

Indeed. We would be much better served to use our best combination and just attack and back ourselves to score more. How many games is it in a row we’ve gone behind?!

Five?

General play we are far superior but they have had two clear chances apart from the goal. They have two very speedy forwards that are causing is trouble, unlucky with the offside but shit happens and it probably was as i think was theirs but we didn't see any lines for that one. Martinez stop fking aornd at the edge of the box it just brings added pressure to a very fragile defence.
