I'm not genuinely not one to get chippy or paranoid about coverage. Pundits are in the entertainment business and they'll give the viewers want they want, and that's predominately the usual franchises.

But the BBCs coverage was incredibly Spurscentric. We could've had Tom Hanks through on goal and Prince William (waves) in the centre of defence, and they still would have been warbling on about the troubled times in N17.

I agree.  It was Spurs-TV from minute one.  I listened to the Rest if Football podcast this morning and it was more of the same.  They were talking about how open the FA Cup is this year, saying that one of the 'other clubs' (like Bright or Newcastle) could win it.

I watched on another channel channel as the wife had the TV on, and they were all over Spurs. Commentators couldn't wait for Spurs to score. It was puke inducing.

The two big "stories" around the game though were how bad Spurs currently are and Villa signing Rashford. The latter got a fair amount of discussion too, particularly at the end once they had a Rashford performance to discuss.

Someone on (I think) the match thread compared it to us getting walloped by Fulham which saw Gerrard got sacked - the story of that game wasn't Fulham putting in a perfectly solid performance, it was Villa being a car-crash and yesterday was similar.

Although it is hard to see if the headlines were similar as within 20 mins they were Gerrard had been sacked.

Fooking freezing inside the Holte last night, wasnt even that windy out, but there somehow contrived to be a minus 10 gale blowing into the lower holte.

The football kept us going. I was nervous at half time as we should of been 4-0 up and I felt like the football Gods were rubbing their hands together. But apart from about 10 mins at the start of the 2nd half when they huffed and puffed, we just out classed them. We really should of scored another 2 or 3 in the second half.
Man it was total shexy futbol from Asensio, hope it keeps that flirting up!!

I agree with that. Cutting Unai’s interview off whilst he was mid flow was shite though.

Twenty seven passes without a spurs touch between the goal kick from Asensio / Rogers chance and the not called foul on Rashford. All players but Emi involved.

I see and understand the Spurs angle, but really it all amounts to "underachieving club are doing even worse than usual". No more or less than we've had for years with a fraction of the attention.

Spurs are a bigger, more interesting club because they're in London. If they weren't they'd get a similar level of attention as us or Everton.

I thought this was a well-balanced post-match discussion, and Joe Hart's input was particularly good.

After his interview yesterday he can go fuck himself. Reaching onto the box of excuses with a dour, negative and frankly pathetic response to defeat. I watched half of their game at Anfield and alongside yesterday the only player who looked at all enthused or up for it was Spence.

He's beginning to make Eddie Jones seem likeable.

Great performance one of the best this season some super football being played
Finishing is a big problem though and has been for awhile

I was critical of the manager and Club before the game saying we don’t take the domestic cups seriously, I mean I wasn’t wrong it’s the first time we’ve reached this round for 10 years
But yesterday we did take it seriously we put a proper team out and went for it can’t ask any more than that
So I don’t mind holding my hands up and saying well done, you restored my belief in actually wanting to win the FA Cup again

Get some centre half’s back fit, improve on our finishing in front of goal, and will be a serious threat in any game or any competition we’re in

If we were more clinical, we'd be smashing some of the sides we play and our league goal difference would look a lot better. We do need to get better at taking our chances and looking more solid at the back.

100% that is by far and away the best domestic cup performance under Unai - I'm sure he can smell a decent cup run and has increased the focus on it - even more so with the additions.

Thought it was a tremendous performance, some of our play going forward was sheer class, we torn Spurs apart, with better finishing it could easily have been 4 or 5, the only downside was Konsa's injury, hopefully it's not too serious. Rogers, Ramsey, Kamara, Ascensio all superb, but probably the biggest plus for me was SJM's display, one of the best games he's played for us, magnificent.

Did quite like a comment on Tottenham Forum from a guy saying that he's starting a Southgate Out Thread now, just in case.
