The commentators take me back to Kenneth Wolsternholme, he was a Bolton supporter but every time we played Spurs you would have thought there was only one team playing. Showing my age now.

Spurs looked like a lower league side, they were awful. Which was nice.

Son is woefully out of form and Kulachesky seems to have dipped .  Didn’t think much of mikey ( your an adult )moore

The bastard offspring of Paul Konchesky and Dejan Kulusevski...they're both quite ugly, so he'd struggle on "Take Me Out" unlike our Marco.

Really enjoyed watching us play today and then when Rashford and Asensio came on it was so good to watch, apart from the goal at the end, that is!

Their goal at the end is typical Villa. Should have been out of sight but for poor finishing first half. We need to develop a killer streak, no sympathy, destroy when we smell blood attitude. Being in the next round is all that matters and the new players will make a difference in forthcoming games. Ascensio was scintillating, what an exciting player.

Should have been out of sight very early on after an excellent first half. Malen in particular was very good in the first 45.

Game was open generally and more so with Spurs chasing a goal. Good time to bring on Asensio and Rashford with plenty of space to play in. Asensio had some glorious touches and was involved in two scintillating attacks which were a joy to see. Rashford looked hungry and wanted the ball as often as possible which I really liked.

Kamara; exceptional as always. Bailey, did some good defensive work but offensively was poor again. Garcia looks like he’s already come on a treat and was very good.

But the stand out was McGinn. A fantastic recital of all his best skills and drive to control the game. Truly exceptional today.

You wouldn’t have said that to former Gambino captain Mikey ‘Scars’ DiLeanardo’s face before he ratted.

We seem to suffer too easily with these whipped in balls like the goal yesterday. Either we close them down so they can’t or we anticipate them better.

Excellent summary Leon. This is the game I watched.

Just watched the highlights. JJ really needs to practice his one-on-ones with the goalie. So many opportunities missed. Even his goal wasn’t ideal. That said he was overall excellent.

Asensio debut reminds me of Sasa Curcic, when he made his debut against Arsenal??? - Curcic was sublime, and I honestly thought that we had signed a world beater (Unfortunately that was the best of his time at Villa)

Asensio, looked absolutely class, but McGinn MOTM.

Should have won more convincingly, hopefully we can get a good home draw in the next round - I am sure that Man Utd will be at home to Plymouth or Cardiff!!

Emery gets it now, his comments and team selection show that.

John McGinn in the middle of the park was awesome, maybe with all the attacking midfielders coming in, and with Onana made of glass, a deeper more combatative role might be where he sees more minutes.
