I don't mind if it's in a fighter's nature, though. Someone like Ali or Fury (not to compare the two as fighters or even personalities, just as 'talkers') make me laugh, but it doesn't feel contrived, it's part of their personality.

But they're few and far between.

Finally, we're here, Beterbiev v Bivol. I can't help thinking age will finally catch up with Beterbiev. Whatever happens tonight, I really hope he retires after as it would be tragic to see him continue just for the challenge or the money. He already has his place in history, he has his young family, hopefully he can step back and enjoy his life.

Fascinated to see what Bivol can do differently tonight, he was close to perfection in their first fight. Two amazing fighters who do their talking in the ring. So much respect for both.

Chisora just goes on and on….all about heart

Has spent the last month telling all and sundry that this would be his last fight, only to then start talking about his next fight immediately after the final bell.  To quote John Lydon, "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?"

I think he was saying it would be his last UK fight with one more after that.

And then immediately started talking about fighting in London after the final bell.  I like and admire Derek Chisora , but I think that "last fight" talk might have been a cynical ploy to get interest in, what if we're honest, was a pretty underwhelming top of the bill fight for an arena show.

Took a fight on 4 days notice against one of the best pound for pound in the world and never took a backwards step. Incredible effort

I thought by his own standards he held back a bit on the power, saving energy to go the full 12 rounds. He worked Bivol's body ruthlessly but the killer punches you come to expect from him just weren't there often enough. That said, what do I know, we're talking about two of the greatest fighters in a generation. Bivol deserved the win last night but he hinted that this time he'll need a real good long rest before a rematch. It would be a pointless exercise, nevermind cruel, putting anybody else other than Berterbiev in the ring with him. They're both so far ahead of the competition.
