We’re just waiting for the Mbpappe deal to get over the line before we let him go

He's been pictured in a Roma scarf, posing for photos as the airport, with their other new signing. Think he's as good as gone. Maybe TV can start a Malen gone thread and he'll end up staying.

And has made 7 league starts, which is probably why we're happy to let him go.

Why does everyone think this Marmoush bloke will be on £300k wages, didn't he come in from Germany and he's not top drawer, they don't pay those kind of wages to everyone do they? I cant see why they would have needed to offer that when half would have done it.

Capology is about the best option for seeing an idea of player wages and they have him as on £295k p/w and marked as verified so I think there's a pretty strong chance it's correct.

I’ve just seen a list from capology that put our annual wage bill for 24/25 at €147m euros. Miles out. And then, even more miles out, they reckon that (€147m) is 87% of our revenue for 24/25, which will be about €415m. It might as well have been scrawled in crayon, yet people are posting it, and maybe even believing it.

It's not perfect but it's about the best source for wages, especially if they have a green tick as that gets added when the wage has been stated by the club/player/agent/etc.

The rest of their finances info is pretty ropey though. Also do remember that our overall wage bill as reported in the accounts for include a bunch of other stuff as well so a difference is expected.

That is fucking mental though, isn't it? If that's what they are paying him? You would have thought well under 200k would have been easily enough to convince someone from Frankfurt to come. Mad.

I don't understand the disappointment. Like Duran he wasn't starting, and wasn't doing much when he did. He's popped up with some goals but overall there's a bit of a drop off from Watkins as. Centre forward. Emery would clearly either like width or a proper number 10 and Malen isn't that either. He's got something but not what we need.

His performance at Chelsea was worse than Gabby's at Spurs when he became a meme for shitness, I think that may have been the point that made Unai ok with him going. I like Malen and would keep him, but i'm not a contender for best manager in the world that keeps moving on players that then do sod all after leaving while we keep getting better.

I think it's the lack of a decent replacement that's the problem. Obviously the window isn't closed yet but you then have to have the new guy up to speed which could take some time* which we don't have if we really want to challenge. I also think that people aren't exactly confident in our recruitment after the summer. Is that Rashford out there this time? I don't know. Malen definitely doesn't fit though but I'd rather have seen him and Watkins together a few more times than say Guessand. I can at least see a talent in Malen, which I know is harsh. Sancho has no goals or assists. I don't know, hopefully the recruitment prove the likes of me wrong.

*there are obvious exceptions, like Ekitike, but it often doesn't work out like that.

We don't need goals? For minutes played vs goals scored, his record is almost double that of Watkins this season. I guess it really depends what you want from a forward. He was certainly useful to have around, extremely clinical. Unfortunately he thought he should be getting more minutes, maybe not patient enough, off he goes and we get our money back on the investment.

Let's hope we don't waste the money.
