I have just picked my son up from school and broke the news about the sale of Malen..  We had silence for about 10 minutes then we had tears .  The pains of being a 12 year old Villa fan

I sympathise, I remember telling my then 10 year old that Grealish was going.

The crying and sobbing was off the scale - which then set him off.

Well, it's a bit weird, but I'm sure we'll replace him and not with Tammy (who may also come in but in a different position), given that the whole thing here is that Emery wanted him to be a support forward. Marmoush and Kean are good names, players you imagine Emery could do something with.

I like Malen, but I'm sure we're not selling him if we don't have a plan. Right? RIGHT?!?!?

I like him too even though his hold up play isn’t very good. We know he isn’t a direct replacement as in like for like with Ollie but he does offer something a bit different. Emery has something up his sleeve. He’s never let us down on that front yet.

As everyone else has said, this is very strange letting him go unless we have someone incoming but it’s not announced. Why work so hard getting to where we are to let it all fall apart. Even he wants to go, which is fair enough, if we have nobody lined up it would surely be up to us to block his sale.

We must have plan!

There are so many things that make me think we've achieved what we have achieved despite the transfer policy, rather than because of it.

This is batshit.

We'll miss him in the Europa league is my prediction for the run in. Ollie's knock out goal record in the European games is virtually non existent.

Roma going to be a serious competitor to win that but we had Asensio against PSG so can't complain too much.

Is there some kind of overlord god that kicks in around the Jan transfer window demanding sacrifices that says 'sell forwards now'.

if we had already got somebody through the door that at least increased the quality of our front line then I can easily see based on a number of reasons why you would let Malen go, plus you have to take into consideration Malen himself may have said, 'World Cup year' I want more starts and game time guaranteed, otherwise i'm gone.

I can only imagine there will be breaking news shortly on a brand new goal machine coming through the door in the coming hours, otherwise you have to say or explain how half way through a season you let go of Duran, Diaby and now this Jan Malen ( maybe even Guessand) and of course Bailey, then take on players you either don't play or simply don't work out, keep them and get rid of somebody better, weird.

Chill out lads we're getting The Moosh and Abraham.

We won't need anyone in before the weekend to best Everton anyway.

Be patient.

Exactly. We've got better year on year under Unai Emery and his staff. Of course it's a blow losing Malen but it's not catastrophic. Plans will be afoot and we will improve bit by bit despite financial regulations designed to keep clubs like us in our place. A rabbit or two will be pulled out of the hat in the coming days. Trust the process boys and girls.

I trust the manager and the ownership, not sure I trust the transfer strategy yet. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve signed some very handy players. We’ve also signed some ropey ones, or perhaps worse, players who the manager doesn’t appear convinced by. I realise there’s been a change in leadership, so let’s see, but it’s not like there’s an unimpeachable transfer record.

Maybe this is all an extremely clever and confusing ruse.

We've been training the terrier Elliot in secret to be a world beater and will unleash him against Everton.

I don't think city would sell/loan Mamoosh to a direct rival. Why would they? Pep showed no mercy to exeter, so seems weird to me. The only connection I can make is the Egypt link with our chairman and if thats the case would be like ellis signing ginola.
