Our defensive issues are systemic, rather than based on personnel. Right back is our weakest position but any long ball, either side, cuts through us every time.

Watkins should have 2 by now, great penalty but should have done better with 2 other chances. Tielemans, Kamara and Rogers doing well. McGinn trying to drag us forward.

Didn’t enjoy a minute of it.

Considering that Villa and Brighton are highly praised football teams, this is a real race to the bottom of sloppy passing and general incompetence.

Stupid foul by Rogers knowing he will miss the next game if he picks up a booking.

The first "penalty" was more of one than the second.  VAR is a joke.

Hope Pau is OK.

This game is kind of mental.

Bit harsh that, it was barely a foul, I think the ref booked him mostly because it was an excuse to punish him for being in his face about the penalty appeals. Mings yellow was soft as well, it was a foul but I don't think there was anything in it to suggest it needed further punishment. The only reckless challenge all half was the one their guy got booked for.

Probably a half that sums up our season nicely.

Poor start and failing to cut out yet another simple ball over the top. Right hand side a complete disaster but we string a few passes together and suddenly look a top 4/5 counter attacking team again. Oh and the usual questionable reffing into the mix.

Guess it could go either way with what they have on the bench but you'd fancy us to score at least another in second half as we did end it strongly.

Tielemans been MOTM by a mile, who was worried about him against their press?

Konsa is a liability and Watkins has to be more clinical.

Not disappointed that Mings is on as I would have started him instead of Pau. If we play the second half the same way as we ended the first, we wil win.

I’m kind of sorry as it looked like a serious injury, but each to their own
Yes I think Torres is a couple of levels above Mings in most aspects of the game but yes each to their own.

Watkins has been wide left and right too often. Needs to be more central, that's where he's going to get the chances not trying to do someone else's job.

Lamptey would improve our right flank.Always liked him

Was going to say the same.  Similar pace to Maatsen by the looks of it, and best of all, he's out of contract in the summer, so unless he's about to sign a new contract in the next couple of days, he's able to talk to other teams from next week.  Will be cheap-ish in January, or he'll be an excellent Bosman for someone next summer.

On the other hand, if all that's true then it's bit weird that he's Brighton's second choice right-back and they've not even offered him a new deal yet.

Maybe he's someone who could thrive elsewhere.

Take a look at how Man U are doing (that 33 min sub was not for an injury) and feel grateful for what we are right now. Could easily have been 1-4 already
To who?

Newcastle, presumably

Yep. I’ve it on in the background and they should be 3 or 4 ahead.

Hope Torres is ok and not too serious , but the defence will be better now so long as Mings stays fit and Konsa plays CB not RB

Anyone who thinks we won't on balance miss Torres especially in Europe is really somewhat foolish. He creates loads of chance for us.

Watkins is almost being too greedy, we know he’s having to really fight for his place, but he missed an obvious pass to JM who was in on goal and Watkins did his best Agboblahor impression.

yes ,  he was selfish in a previous game when he should have squared it.   Duran is   putting pressure on.

We have no cover for mings now so probably going to have to get someone in to play there.
Can maatsen play there?
