It was artistic license for the poem, it wasn't meant to be used in a history/geography class.

But given that’s what makes us unique it’s a pretty central thing to get wrong!

Does anyone know which former players took part in the parade ? Due to upturned collars, scarves, warm hats etc, it was difficult to identify everybody.

Well, Liverpool were the first to sing YNWA, Newton Heath fans sang Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, the "cold" goal celebration is Cole Palmers and Small Heath are a bigger club than us.

See? Every club is liberal with the truth so I don't see why we should be any different...

Some are just delusional though.

The usual European Cup winners were there, plus I spotted Ian Taylor and Brian Little.

Noticed Lee Hendrie on the TV coverage

Yes. Also Alan McInally and James Chester. No sign of Ross MacCormack though

He was the one who went down like Paqueta when kicking the ball and then scored in north stand goal as part of the parade

Was God there ?

Only tiny complaint is why did it sound like Bradley had been recorded in a toilet ?

I don’t think so. Didn’t notice him during the parade and doesn’t seem to feature in any of the pics.

Somebody like Steve with that level of senior service should really get a lifelong season ticket and in reality should have been part of anything with a historic feel purely for his insight and knowledge.

However, in terms of last night if the ‘parade’ was anything to go by I didn’t get the feel that there were many if any players out there who wouldn’t be involved in the hospitality lounges every game or media associated to the club?

Might be wrong but the ‘parade’ felt like an afterthought…

Never seen a queue for programmes like last night…was a real throwback moment….obv they ran out :-) well it was only for the GA plebs

Re the 'parade' I remember the 140th anniversary, took place before the match, whether that would have been better last night, I don't know. At that time the anniversary match took place in November, as for some reason the club were of the belief we were founded on 21 Nov 1874, which subsequently proved to be incorrect.
What I remember most about that night was the appearance of my hero Peter McParland, I have not heard of any mention of him being there last night, which would probably be as he is 90 now.

I'd say it would have been. Looked like an afterthought on the telly.
