Am I right in thinking that point today has guaranteed us European football next season of some description. Of course we have bigger fish to fry but that is an achievement in itself.

That was guaranteed when Brentford lost last night. Four years in a row is beyond what we'd have dreamed of before Unai turned up.

It would - but missing out on Champions League, from the position we’ve got ourselves in, would be pretty catastrophic. I don’t think we will miss out, but our dreadful league form is making it unnecessarily difficult.

To miss out on Champions League we'd have to lose to Liverpool, Man City and Freiburg. Bournemouth would need 4 pts from Man City and Forest or Brighton 6 from Leeds and Man Utd.

5 results all need to go against us. If we fuck this up from here it would be a disaster. Namely because we'd be losing another cup final.

Unlikely  but that would be such a villa thing to do.

Brighton will almost certainly be missing Mitoma for their final two matches.

Bournemouth will be without Christie and Jimenez (for very different reasons) for their game versus Man City.

If we've won the Europa then it won't matter, but it'll go to the last game again for 5th.

Which is ridiculous, given where we were with 10 games to go and who we had to play.

If we go to Citeh needing to get a result (draw or win) to get Champs League we are done. Obviously that would mean not winning the Europa League, so it’d be horrible. But there’s no bloody way we’re getting anything there.

I wonder where we would be if Tammy's goal against Brentford had stood.

That was such a kick in the bollocks, coming at a time when nothing was going for us

More importantly, where would be without his winner against Sunderand?

How big is that now?

I suspect we'll draw with Liverpool and that will have proven to be enough for 5th by the time of the Citeh game.

Missing both of those against the majority of Fulham game and didn't stop them winning.

Not if we start Mings, and the worry is starting Torres who is definitely needed in Istanbul. Hopefully the fans aren't saving themselves for Istanbul as we will need them.

This is the only positive. For those of us who like an emotional hedge bet, there is very big money to be made on that combination. Get in now before we lose to Liverpool

Going to Manchester, last game of the season, needing a point.

Is there a conspiracy/contrivance going on for us to definitely finish 5th in the hope we win the EL and let an extra team in ?

It bloody feels like it.
