It also shouldn't be underestimated how important the psychology could be for the final. Could go into it free of any CL stress because top 5 is wrapped, or there's the massive amount of added pressure as everyone knows just how important CL football is to us next season.

I wonder if we might need that stress to get us to perform at our best.

Bournemouth with 10 days rest vs a post cup final Man City? Forest and United won’t do us any favours on the final day either. I think we will need to beat Liverpool or City and you wouldn’t bet on either of those with Istanbul in the middle.

Just give Brighton and Bournmouth the points so, no need to play the games!

Where do all these optimistic Villa fans come from? It’s unnatural and really annoying.

No personal offence, Villan82

We need a West Ham result today, even a point to keep Man City hungry for the league title. They need to go to Bournemouth needing a win.

I think we need at least a point to get CLin the League. Just go out full strength against Liverpool.

I was always negative until this manager came along and started breaking all sorts of hoodoos and showing we can be a top club.

I think we need 3 points. I can’t believe he’s left those on the table against our last three opponents. It’s all happening again

We're limping over the line. I just hope the league form doesn't carry over into next season.

what absolutely cannot happen, should things not go to plan in Istanbul is that we need anything at all at Man City on the last day. That would be bad. Really bad.

I wonder where we would be if Tammy's goal against Brentford had stood.

That was such a kick in the bollocks, coming at a time when nothing was going for us

There’s no choice now.

The problem is attitude as much as personnel (although the Mings and Maatsen combination is the stuff of nightmares). We are just turning up and not being proactive, our league form has been garbage. We will probably make it, but given our fixtures it’s ridiculous we’re going into the last two without it confirmed.

Am I right in thinking that point today has guaranteed us European football next season of some description. Of course we have bigger fish to fry but that is an achievement in itself.

In other European league the top sides can coast at times as the gap is massive between top and bottom, you don't have that luxury in the PL. By my quick reckoning only West Ham in the bottom 12 haven't taken any points off us this season. I'd fancy that doesn't apply to any other CL chasing side in the other European leagues.

It’s a bonus for Man City if Arsenal drop points today but MC play Palace this mid week as their game in hand anyway.

That was guaranteed when Brentford lost last night. Four years in a row is beyond what we'd have dreamed of before Unai turned up.
