A bit unfortunate with Liverpool and Man United scraping wins when playing poorly. Burnley doing us a favour. Did we even deserve a point v Leeds? Shocking performance in any case.

yes we deserved a point against Leeds based on the second half performance but could easily have lost.

Feels a lot like the same time in 23/24. Without trawling back through the posts from back then, I'd guess that the same people who just knew that Spurs were going to overtake us are the same ones who just know that all of Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd will overtake us this time.

That's not to say that we definitely will be fine. But it would still be a surprise if we finished lower than fifth, even with our current form.

Just remember we can't talk about our injuries because Spurs have more apparently, just like 23/24.

Agreed, Chelsea appear the most inconsistent of the chasing pack and appear to have the toughest run in. If I had to bet my own money on who would miss out it would be on them.

I'd be suprised if we didn't finish 3rd or 4th and win the Europa League. Yeah we have injuries and we have timing, but two defeats to Everton, Brentford and Leeds are poor, with a win against Brighton and a decent point (poor 2nd half) against Bournemouth and a cracking win at Newcastle mixed amongst it.

Its ok form, its not disaster. Lets beat Wolves, as we absolutely should and put 3 more points on the board, be another game down and closer to the return of McGinn and Tielemans.

Plus the extra six weeks they spent running around in the summer is hopefully going to catch up with them in the last couple of months.

Careful, we might have to do the same this year...

54 points with 10 games to go if we beat Wolves. With McGinn and Tielemans to come back in. A strong performance at Wolves, result will take care of itself, and we start looking forward I reckon.

Exactly. Lets not fall into the excuse trap and lets not panic either. Job to be done Friday against the worse team in the leagues' history.

I will say no we wont qualify and it will be down to not having a flexible enough approach to games and being terrible in games we should have won. 3 points from Leeds and game is on but I think Manure will pip us now much to the spontaneous ejaculations of the sporting press.

It needs Man Utd, Chelsea AND Liverpool to overtake us though - I don't know why this isn't clear to everyone.  Due to games between the competing sides 64 points will still almost certainly be enough to finish in the top 5, which means four more wins and a couple of draws at most (and if we take one of those wins against Liverpool or Chelsea then even 62 points should be enough).  Even on our current run, our form is still significantly better than that.  Instead of thinking negatively, in terms of the outcome the reality is we could have it largely sewn up by next Wednesday with 2 wins.

I don't believe in the "have nothing to play for" games being any easier. Those teams often end-up playing well and taking points. Burnley are just about down, got knocked out of the FA Cup by Mansfield and then went to Chelsea and nearly won.

This is absolutely true. I still remember the end of last season where folks were desperate for Forest to have something to play for on the last day v Chelsea and it was Everton who ended up opening the door for us.

The fact of the matter is that it's all down to our own results because no team is going to be perfect to the end of the season.

I think 64 is pitching it too low as a target. Man Utd are 16 points off, Liverpool and Chelsea are 19 points off. So Man Utd can lose five games and still get there, the other two can lose four and still get there.
