8 points from the last 7 isn't great.

Villa winning at Newcastle feels like 9 points. S'all good, man.

Fifth will do the job. Really need Abu Dhabi to win tomorrow. The Scouse, I think, have the easiest on paper run in, having quite worryingly, scored a few recently. Albeit they haven't really got into a groove this season and are missing both right backs. If we can shore up at home and get 6 in the next two we'll hopefullly have our groove back too.

Sixth is our natural position comparing our resources to teams above is and in close proximity.

It’s not great, but I suspect all the teams below us have been through similar runs. It does happen, and it’s a situation where you need to grind out results where you can - a point today is decent.

If we play like this for the rest of the season we won’t make it, but I’d be staggered if we do. We will get some form back and I imagine other teams will drop off as well. Next three are important though.

We have taken 4 points from two very difficult away games. Unai just needs to find a midfield solution at home to keep us in touch until the business end of the season.

By the time the midfield gets back we'll be 6th with harder games to come. I think it's Europa or bust.

Three games in a row to figure something out

We’re eight points clear of sixth. Need Man City to batter Liverpool as their goal difference is already worse than ours.

By the time SJM and Tielemans come back we might be fighting to get back into the top 5. Chelsea and Man U have eaten away at the lead we had and they have the strength in depth and momentum to keep their current form. We have hope Liverpool don’t wake up.

Agreed. I'll be very annoyed if Liverpool pip us to a CL spot.

Yanited have no cup games to distract them, no excuse for them not to finish top five.

Liverpool know we're on the decline and after tomorrow have a run of very winnable matches. Make no mistake the gap between them and us will get eaten up and I fully expect them to be sitting in 5th by the first week of March.

Liverpool have been as cack as us and don't have the injury issues we do as an excuse.

Blimey I know you tend to veer towards the angry side of things, but our last two away performances are fine. If we get a bit of rhythm back at home then we’re well in top 4/5 race, in fact we have an advantage.

I think we have to stay optimistic. If it was one team chasing us I’d be worried, but there are three teams who have all been patchy so far and who would all have to greatly improve the form they’ve shown so far to overtake us.

One could definitely do it, maybe two. All three still seems pretty unlikely.
