We had 6000 tickets at Stamford Bridge last January on a Friday night in the Cup and could have sold a lot more.

Yeah, a lot of people don't get a chance to go away in the league so games like these will get taken up.

Exactly - for many fans an away cup game with a decent allocation is their only chance of an away game. And it usually makes for a great atmosphere.

I remember us giving the whole Witton Lane to Man U at least once.

Lower Tier

Half the lower and the whole NS. That fateful 2-3 game. I can never recall MU fans going all the way up the Holte. I'm sure that's never happened.

They didn't have the entire North, it was just the usual lower North (as was) and lower Witton extended beyond the away end.

So those of us in the Witton Lane lower will have roaming Cockernees above us. Sounds like a well thought out plan to me.

They'll tarp off the first few rows and probably doe the some for the section nearest the Holtey End

They didn't have the entire lower Witton though. I'm sure of that.

Think we gave them the entire NS the next year when we lost 1-2 and gave them none of the Witton.

They had the whole original one tier Witton and the seats behind the goal in the League Cup in 1992, 10k in total. Liverpool had the same area in the FA Cup in 1988 but it was still terraced then so more like 12k.

The 1-0 when Deano scored? I was at that in the Holte. Don't recall them having the whole Witton though. I would have been right next to them in the right side of the HE.

Didn’t Port Vale have the entire Witton Lane and Lower North? 12,000 tickets in the days when home teams had to give up 25% of their capacity to away away fans?

Somebody has made a good point on X that Villa fans and West Ham fans will be queueing side by side to get into the DE stand as the turnstiles alternate between upper and lower tier access.

A chance for us to get revenge for April 1976 and March 1980  ;)

We moved across to the WL upper when  it opened.
We have never had to give up our seats before.

We played Vale in 1990, 36k in Villa Park and then again in 2006 with only 30k there. I can't imagine with either of those there were 12000 Vale fans?
