--------- Olsen -----------
Ned  Mings  Bogarde Mate
---- Kamara - Barkley ---
JPB -------------------Buendia
--- Duran -------- Wilson --
Who's our other nr9's in the reserves / u21 's ?
Zero chance Wilson is starting with his contract situation. I imagine Ramsey/McGinn do 45 minutes each or Kadan Young gets a go. The other ten look right though

Wilson?! He's not even been on the first team bench, has he? More chance of Young getting a go or Stefan's young fella, Mooey Jr.

I want us to take the cup on Wednesday seriously for once.  I think we’ve got a reasonable chance this year.  There’s no real excuse for not being able to field a decent team given all the injury returns.

I've put Bailey in as i think Emery will be trying again to play him back into form / fitness

We have the squad to give this a real go this year and it would be disappointing not to even if I understand the basic rationale.

I have visions of Emi Buendia winning this competition single-handedly for us while his boss rests him from league and Champions League games.

He becomes a cult hero and in the 2050s still visits Brum with his namesake but is now Martínez's equal.

If our starting eleven contains players who have been in the match day squads regularly this season then we should probably win. I think there are two issues though;

- He might go massively under strength and start the likes of Sil Swinkles, Kaden Young etc. as he did at Wycombe.
- He probably won’t play Emi, and Joe Gaucci is extremely untested.

I reckon we will beat Palace 2-1 and progress into the next round.

Personal circumstances preclude me from attending despite the fact that I love the competition and want to see us win it again. My feelings are not mirrored by Emery so we undoubtably we'll field an understrength side, although we could be strong given the players available.

Possibly the only negative of the managers reign is the meek exits from the domestic cups and for the majority he has been utterly justified but I'm one of those odd people who would rather win the FA Cup than the CL. Perhaps not the LC over European glory but it runs it close. An odd stance it may seem but it was the first trophy I saw us win in the flesh back in '94 and I really don't think anything will top it.

I think I will be disappointed on Weds night.

No need to go overly weak in this:

Olsen
Ned - DC - Mings - Maatsen
Kamara - Barkley
Bailey - Buendia - Philogene
Duran

Essentially the subs bench from Saturday plus Ned and Jaden. That’s a team that should be good enough to progress here.

Surely he'll play Gauci rather than Olsen? I don't see what the point in spending a few million on Gauci was if he's not as good as Robin Olsen.

The last two benches would suggest not.

Cant believe olsen is ahead of gauci

Think gauci is more long term option and looks better than olsen
