We will play reserve set up in the Cup and have one premier league game in the next 19 days.

Mings will be back, Torres likely soon after. Digne, Kamara and Bogarde can all do a job, probably equally as well as any available CB

Digne, Kamara and Bogarde don’t appear to be able to do a very good job.

Scoring goals has not been our problem this season. It would dreadful management and planning not to sorted this area out. Particularly with Pau already out and Ming’s coming back from long term injury who will naturally pick up minor injuries from time to time. Bogarde at centre back is the only other choice currently.

I wished we had made a big for Lacroix @ Palace  - big tough fucker who can play a bit
Don't think there's any chance they'd sell him in january. They've turned down £70m for Guehi.

No, but they only spent £15m on him in the summer.

Just for when the inevitable "well, there clearly aren't any defenders that are good enough who are willing to come" excuses come out.

It's a huge oversight and very strange if we don't sign a CB .

It’s neither strange nor an oversight. It is, however, disappointing that we have seemingly been thwarted in finding a player of sufficient quality to provide cover.

Well if we don’t sign anyone surely our net spend this window will put to bed any PSR issues this month…most of the Duran fee unspent

Yeah, that's incredibly positive thinking. I get Mings and Torres coming back, but Konsa needs a better level of support.

Getting a centre half was the main priority of this window and so far we have failed miserably to address this issue. Signing Rashford and Asensio is all well and good, but our defence looks a shambles and needs serious upgrading in both depth and quality.

Was it? I thought a RB was? Getting a CB only became a priority when Carlos left and Mings got injured within 5 minutes of eachother.

Before the transfer window it was clear Emery didn't rate KN so we basically had no backup for an increasingly injury prone Cash. Emery ridiculously threw in Garcia after about two training sessions v Wolves with predictable consequences.

At CB, we were already trying to move on Carlos (again) and Torres had a long term injury. Down to two fit centre backs was going to be a huge risk, especially with Mings still coming back from a long term injury. Mings breaking down playing two games a week was predictable.

It is negligent, it's already cost us points in the last 2 x PL games.

You've just watched the blind panic with Kamara out of midfield and Digne at centre half?

Digne and Kamara have been our two best players this season but theyre hopelessly out of position at CB and its unfair to judge them on it.

Kamara might be able to do a job - to a degree - at CB but unfortunately he’s already got an important job as crucial to our midfield.

All this scheming and playing the market stuff from Monchi but here we are with one fit centre half, a problem exacerbated by then selling Carlos and not replacing him.

Absolute genius.

The post I replied to said a CB was the main priority of this window. It was not.
It became a priority when we sold Carlos, had a replacement lined up and all but done, and then he backed out. Meanwhile Mings got injured.

It's a series of unfortunate events. We may well come to regret not just panic buying someone. But there's a few posters on here rewriting the last month to imply Monchi and Emery and everyone else have just been dicking around ignoring a gaping hole in the squad, which in reality didn't exist until a week or so ago.

Also, after spurs we have 3 league games before the end of Feb, not 1. If Mings or Konsa are out in that time (Mings is still out at the moment) we're buggered.

Brighton getting Tommy Watson , liked the look of him and would have loved another Tommy at Villa.

Saturday showed very clearly that Kamara isn't a competent CB .

Yeh they can all do a job, but doing a job isn't the objective, winning football matches is , which is difficult without the requisite number of defenders.
Its only a Metatarsal remember, Ramsey had only a metatarsal.
