Emery recently stated it was Diego that wanted to leave. Unai has always and rightly said he doesn't players who don't want to be here.

But surely, as a player with a very generous contract, he should have left when it suited us, not him?

What's Phil Senderos upto these days .
We simply have to purchase a CB before the window closes.

That’s fine, he didn’t need to leave before we had a replacement ready though

The possibility of not signing a centre-back at all has not been ruled out this window. Villa insist a recruit will only be signed if they can improve the team. #AVFC

The defence has been a shambles lately, especially against Wolves. They should've kept Carlos as it's looking a bit doubtful a new CB will be signed - it's not as if we got a big fee for Carlos. Maybe Tomori if available? Hopefully Mings is back next Sunday against Spurs. Worrying that Torres won't be back for another month.

Signing Ciaran Clark back would be an improvement over an empty space where a centre-back should be found.

A bird in the hand? Maybe there wasn't that much interest or maybe they didn't expect to get turned down by Badé.

That would be one of the worst possible decisions they could make. 3 senior centre-halves, 2 of which are injured is no where near enough.

It would be gross negligence .
The defence is all at sea , wolves could have scored 5 or 6 yesterday and there can't have been any complaints about it .

If they dont have decided if they are able to sign a CB that can improve the team by now we wont sign a CB this window. Very disappointing from the recruitment section of the club if so.

Exactly that - this is about having minimal levels of acceptable cover. We are beneath that and it’s doubly compounded by our reserve option being our elite DM which weakens us in two positions. It is essential we get a centre back in.

I think Chelsea have pretty much promised us the player all transfer window and are now pulling out at the last minute to fuck us over. I'm not really sure we teach them a lesson if we decide not to sign a defender then lose our next half a dozen games against a team that's more competent than the Glaswegian hammer throwers from the other night. Which will be every team we play.

It would be disappointing if we don’t get one in. Clearly Bade was first choice and having agreed terms with second choice Diasi, that’s seemingly not going to work out either due to Chelsea. Is it usual to have three good choices that meet all the criteria Emery would have identified?

Former Lens  centre back Kevin Danso, who we were said to be in for  and ended up joining Spurs is reported as having failed medicals in the summer and in this window too.
