I’m going glass half full.  Asensio and Rashford to click straight away and we finish 4th and win the CL.

I would  love nothing more to be wrong and that to happen

You know he’s on similar wages right?

No i didnt know that. Are we also paying 70% of his wages too?

According to Ornstein we're paying all of Asensio's wages.

Which is a far worse deal than Rashford's, if one cares about such things.

Yeah i wasnt aware of that and i absolutely  agree with that. My god what the hell are we doing
Maybe the deal is we pay the wages so we don't have to pay a loan fee. Swings and roundabouts.

Great news on the financials but we can’t play a stack of cash at centre half, can we?
Depends if it’s able to return it with interest! ‘AVE IT!!!

🚨🧨 Aston Villa are interested in Sunderland’s 18 year old winger Tommy Watson & are expected to make a bid.

Am I right to assume that the people in charge of these deals will have looked at the finances and seen that they work, and that therefore people like me, with no knowledge, insight or control, should simply not give a fuck how much of players’ wages we’re paying?

If you assume that everyone in a position of power gets everything right then yes.

I mean, i'd generally agree with you, but the forum would be a bit quiet if we weren't to discuss such issues. Which admittedly in some cases might be a good thing.

And if I didn’t assume that, what should I then do about it?

Sitting back and thinking about it with a clearer head you have to assume that players who have actually walked the walk at high level in Rashford and Asensio are a better option than Buendia and Philogene who haven’t excelled at any higher level than Championship at any time.

If we get an angry Rashford I’ll be happy, I don’t want the sap who has drifted there for last 2/3 years but hopefully all the criticism has fired up the burners under him.

If we get a centre half before deadline I’ll be ok with the window, obviously rolling the dice to try and get Europe again next year

One thing I do hope is that at least one of the youngsters ie JimohAloba gets some time in the FA Cup game, starting to feel like the bench is a glass ceiling to the youngsters…if they are good enough to be named on the bench they should be used occasionally.

“Middlesbrough are close to signing Samuel Iling-Junior on loan from Aston Villa, with striker Kelechi Iheanacho also likely to sign from Sevilla.”

Sure, but I don’t think ‘that’s too much!’ and ‘no it isn’t!’ are particularly fertile grounds for debate when none of us know anything.

Whatever you want. Chain yourself to the Trinity Road gates and go on hunger strike until you get a meeting with our Chief Financial Officer (If we still have one) and point out what errors you think we are making.
